Grandpa Charles

We visited Grandpa Charles in Oklahoma this weekend. Brandon and I came back late last night, but Corby and the twins stayed overnight. They'll be home soon.Charles seems to be taking care of himself. We talked a lot about what options there are to treat the cancer - none really. It is inoperable, and even though they could try radiation and chemo, they told him that it might kill him due to his fragility. So he is opting for living the rest of his days as pain free as they can keep him, alone with his two dogs, Chunka and Mouse. There is no timetable, it could be swift, and it could drag on. We just want to make sure he gets the care and pain medicine that he needs. They think the cancer could be a result of his fighting in the Vietnam War - Agent Orange. He is resigned to his fate, but also is determined to fight as long as he can. He is so skinny, but his spirit is strong! He was so happy to see the kids!
WE LOVE YOU CHARLES!

We didn't get to see Doug and Debbie and their family, including baby Cooper, this weekend; as they were busy moving. Hopefully we will see them soon, and I will be able to post pictures of 1-year-old Cooper.

In honor of Charles, a cherished Vietnam Vet, and the flag he flies every day, today's quote:

"Her red, white and blue
Waves high across the land
Reminding us always
For Freedom we stand.

Please

I know there are folks out there who read my blog, at least once in a while. Would you please do me a favor? Would you make a comment every now and then? It's easy...just click on comment, and if you don't have any of the accounts set up that are listed, you can post as "anonymous". Just identify yourself in the comment. I'd like to know how many people out there are actually reading my blog, albeit occasionally. THANKS!

Isn't This Gross?

Corby lets Muffin drink out of his milk glass. Isn't that disgusting? I love animals, but I sure don't share my drinks with them. YUCK! Brandon will be home tomorrow - on his 19th birthday! His last final is at 12:30. Corby & Kaleb are headed up to help him bring his stuff home. I was planning on going, but because Hope is out on medical leave, I can't take off. That's okay - I really wasn't looking forward to carrying his stuff down 7 flights of stairs! YIPPEE - MY BABY IS COMING HOME FOR THE SUMMER! Does anyone else out there love "House Hunters" - the show on HGTV? For some reason, that show grabs me. I like to see the 3 houses the couples (sometimes singles) choose from. Of course, most of them have a lot more money than we do! Saw one last night that was a young couple in Chicago - lived in the inner city, but with 2 kids decided to move to the suburbs. Their goal was to find a house for under $1,000,000. That a million dollars folks! How can peop...

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair...
