Trek to Old Navy

Nothing like getting home from a long day at work and being told by your 17-year-old daughter "MOM, WE HAVE TO GO TO OLD NAVY TONIGHT!" Her black flip flops fell apart today, and we just HAD to go her some more tonight. I don't know about you, but that didn't sound all that important to me. However, Corby and I hopped in her truck and went with her. Yes, she could have gone by herself, but she wanted some company, so off we went - probably 10 miles (or more) to Old Navy on N. Maize Rd. They have cheapie flip flops 2 for $5. (She probably used $5 worth of gas to get there-LOL!) We found her a couple of cool t-shirts on sale, so it wasn't a total "FLOP"! And then of course we had to try out the new Baskin Robbins across the street. I didn't get anything (can you believe that?) but she got some Jamoca ice cream in a cup and Corby got a Mocha Iced Cappucino. I drove her truck home so they could enjoy their treats.

And speaking of her truck, we had to take it to the shop yesterday for some work. And of course it cost $343 to fix it. It's always something with vehicles!I am reading Valerie Bertenelli's book "Losing It". I've enjoyed her TV movies over the years, but was never a big fan of her TV show "One Day at a Time". And I've never been a big fan of Van Halen, and of course she was married for many years to Eddie Van Halen. I am enjoying the book because of its insight into her marriage and her weight problems. I'm surprised she stayed married to Eddie as long as she did because they didn't have a very good marriage. I've always enjoyed reading biographies. When I was about 9 or 10 and the Bookmobile (I'm dating myself here) would come to our neighborhood during the summer months, I would always check out biographies. Still enjoy them to this day...

Love me some Old Navy flip flops.
I read it too. It was okay. I've always been a Van Halen fan and I've always liked her, but some of the book was a little much for me.

I'm on that flip flop bandwagon! I had to buy all new ones, mine disappeared in the move - I don't like the new style at all!

Same here. I stocked up on Old Navy Flip Flops... one in nearly every color, a couple weeks ago. I wear them like crazy!

I'm going to have to check out this book! Sounds like everyone is reading it.

that's funny -- before i read the part about costing five bucks in gas to get to old navy, i thought to myself "spent more in gas than the flip flops cost." stupid $3.39 gallon. UGH!! how much do i date myself when i say "i remember paying 79 cents a gallon."

Margaritaville!

We had a wonderful get-together at On the Border this afternoon. The margaritas were great! Of course, I was the only one drinking - and I'm not even much of a drinker. It was great seeing my niece, Lenore and my nephew, Nick. Even though Nick lives here, I don't get to see him much, as his work hours prevent us from seeing much of each other. We did make a pact to get together and see a movie over the Thankgiving holiday. We will be going to Oklahoma on Thanksgiving to spend it with Charles, but I'll have to come back Thanksgiving night as I have to work on Friday. Here are some pictures from our afternoon out.
