Spring 2009 Ice / Sleet / Snow Storm

Thank goodness the prediction of a foot of snow for the Wichita area didn't occur. Obviously we got more sleet and ice than we did snow.We left around 10 this morning and went to visit mom. Normally we take the highway there, but I opted to take Broadway to 13th. However, there was a wreck just south of 21st & Broadway, so we went out 21st instead. We didn't have any problems, but we did see a lot of people stuck in the snow - mostly from trying to turn on side streets or into parking lots. We made it safely to mom's, and then took I-235 back around to I-135 to go to Leeker's. There wasn't much traffic, though there were several SUV's going about 50mph who went around us. It was much too slick to be driving so fast. As long as they don't spin out and hit me I'm okay with that, but I still thought they were crazy.

Our Bradford pear tree got a lot of ice, and it was just starting to bloom. Guess we'll have to see if it bounces back...And Cinnamon just LOVES the snow! Guess it's the Husky in her...It's now about 5:45 pm - the sun is shining and the ice is melting....just another spring day in Kansas!

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair

Isn't This Gross?

Corby lets Muffin drink out of his milk glass. Isn't that disgusting? I love animals, but I sure don't share my drinks with them. YUCK! Brandon will be home tomorrow - on his 19th birthday! His last final is at 12:30. Corby & Kaleb are headed up to help him bring his stuff home. I was planning on going, but because Hope is out on medical leave, I can't take off. That's okay - I really wasn't looking forward to carrying his stuff down 7 flights of stairs! YIPPEE - MY BABY IS COMING HOME FOR THE SUMMER! Does anyone else out there love "House Hunters" - the show on HGTV? For some reason, that show grabs me. I like to see the 3 houses the couples (sometimes singles) choose from. Of course, most of them have a lot more money than we do! Saw one last night that was a young couple in Chicago - lived in the inner city, but with 2 kids decided to move to the suburbs. Their goal was to find a house for under $1,000,000. That a million dollars folks! How can peop
