A new and different life...

Today marks the beginning of our empty nest. We couldn't really count yesterday since it was spent moving the kids from hereto hereAfter a few tears (me and Kaitlin) and lots of hugs and kisses, we headed back to Wichita last night. Our original plans were to spend the night, but we got everything done and felt like it was important for the kids to have the first night in their new "home" alone - without mom and dad. I'm not sure Kaitlin agreed - she's not only going to miss mom and dad, but her pets.

Here are a few pics of the inside of their house - their rooms aren't completely put together at this point, but you get the idea. The boys rooms are all about their electronics - TV's, video game systems, etc.

Kaleb's roomBrandon's roomKaitlin's roomTheir kitchen - it's mostly put together.
I am so glad we all have cell phones and text messaging. It's so easy to keep in touch with each other. Their internet is not up yet - they're having problems with it. It will probably be tomorrow before they have everything set up.

Kaitlin is already planning their first meal for this evening (I bought pizza yesterday afternoon for our lunch/dinner). She is fixing hamburgers in brown gravy, mashed potatoes and whichever canned vegetable they all agree on (ha!). I hope the boys appreciate her cooking. She loves to cook - obviously got that from her dad!

Here's a cute picture of Muffin. Corby moved Kaitlin's old desk out into our den area (since we gave the kids the furniture) so he could put Kaleb's old computer on it for him. Before he could get the computer downstairs, Muffin decided she wanted it. Actually, I think she's just missing momma (Kaitlin!).
I enjoyed the $37 grocery bill this morning, and the fact that I've only had to do 4 loads of laundry today, so I'm easing into this empty nest thing. Gonna miss those kiddos though! LOVE YOU GUYS AND MISS YOU ALREADY!

It's easy...just click on comment, and if you don't have any of the accounts set up that are listed, you can post as "anonymous". Just identify yourself in the comment. I'd like to know how many people out there are actually reading my blog, albeit occasionally. THANKS!

Isn't This Gross?

Corby lets Muffin drink out of his milk glass. Isn't that disgusting? I love animals, but I sure don't share my drinks with them. YUCK! Brandon will be home tomorrow - on his 19th birthday! His last final is at 12:30. Corby & Kaleb are headed up to help him bring his stuff home. I was planning on going, but because Hope is out on medical leave, I can't take off. That's okay - I really wasn't looking forward to carrying his stuff down 7 flights of stairs! YIPPEE - MY BABY IS COMING HOME FOR THE SUMMER! Does anyone else out there love "House Hunters" - the show on HGTV? For some reason, that show grabs me. I like to see the 3 houses the couples (sometimes singles) choose from. Of course, most of them have a lot more money than we do! Saw one last night that was a young couple in Chicago - lived in the inner city, but with 2 kids decided to move to the suburbs. Their goal was to find a house for under $1,000,000. That a million dollars folks! How can peop...

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair...
