Amazon

I love Amazon.com...my checking account doesn't, but I do! I love ordering $25 worth of merchandise, and not paying for shipping! I ordered some books yesterday:

by Robyn Carr:
1) Runaway Mistress
2) Never Too Late

and by Sherryl Woods:
1) Stealing Home
2) A Slice of Heaven
3) Feels Like Family

I've got all my winter reading ready now...though there are a few of my favorite authors coming out with new books in the next couple of months. I'll have to get those too!

We had a busy weekend - went to Manhattan on Saturday to try to fix Kaitlin's truck, which wouldn't start. No luck! Corby thinks it's either a sensor problem or a fuel filter. If the truck had been here at home he might have been able to replace the fuel filter. However, you have to drop the gas tank - and on a pickup truck that's a big undertaking. So, her truck is at the Dodge dealership waiting for a health verdict. I hope it's not too expensive since she doesn't have money to pay for it, so of course, mom and dad will be paying! We did have a nice visit with the kids, so that was fun. Kaleb is coming home this weekend to spend a few days with us.

Yesterday I took mom clothes shopping. (Marilyn / Rhonda - don't read this part to mom if she's there with you). Mom has a thing about her clothes. Whenever the seasons change and I take her clothes to her, she swears she doesn't have anything to wear because nothing fits her. Two weeks ago I took her winter clothes over, and we tried on EVERY pair of pants that I took. All but one pair fit her - that left about 7 pair. The next day she was complaining that none of them fit. When I talked to her I reminded her she tried them all on, but she didn't remember, and didn't want to hear that they fit. So I gave up and took her shopping yesterday. We ended up getting 5 new shirts and one pair of slacks. Since she only wears about two outfits a week, that should be plenty. Now we'll see if she wears any of her new clothes. When my sisters got her new shirts for mother's day she didn't wear any of them. UGH! After taking mom shopping and driving by our old house (the yard looked terrible and was way past needing mowed), I took her to lunch at NuWay, one of her favorite places. We had a nice visit. After I dropped her off I went to a baby shower. My friend's daughter, Megan, is expecting her first baby at the end of November. It was a beautiful shower and Megan got a lot of nice things. Corby & I went to Leeker's when I got home, so I got some of our grocery shopping done.

I'm on furlough this week, and then vacation next Monday & Tuesday. Today I've been busy doing laundry that I didn't have time for over the weekend. I've also paid bills and done our Dillons grocery shopping. It's still very strange to grocery shop with the kids gone. Where we used to have an overflowing basket, we barely fill it a third of the way now.

Tomorrow and Wednesday I'm having lunch with friends. Looking forward to that...

Baseball playoffs are upon us, and none of the teams I want to win are winning. So I probably won't have much interest in the World Series either.

Corby will be traveling for work the last week of October. They bought all the Martin Tractor locations in Kansas, and are going to each store to sort out their warehouse operations. Even though I will miss him, the overtime he will be getting that week will be nice!

Today's music: Toby Keith's new CD - American Ride. It's awesome!

And a quote for this cool, dreary Monday: "All seasons are beautiful for the person who carries happiness within." -- Horace Friess

I'd like to know how many people out there are actually reading my blog, albeit occasionally. THANKS!

Margaritaville!

We had a wonderful get-together at On the Border this afternoon. The margaritas were great! Of course, I was the only one drinking - and I'm not even much of a drinker. It was great seeing my niece, Lenore and my nephew, Nick. Even though Nick lives here, I don't get to see him much, as his work hours prevent us from seeing much of each other. We did make a pact to get together and see a movie over the Thankgiving holiday. We will be going to Oklahoma on Thanksgiving to spend it with Charles, but I'll have to come back Thanksgiving night as I have to work on Friday. Here are some pictures from our afternoon out. Kaleb with Nick (Brandon provided Kaleb's rabbit ears)... Kaitlin and Brandon Mom, Terry, Sandy and Lenore Lenore and Mike Ryan and Diana Diana in her Garth t-shirt (I can't wait until tomorrow night!) Me with my sister Rhonda Mom and Lenore THE WHOLE CREW minus me - I'd rather be taking the picture! We are childless tonight, as Brandon went to a concert...
