LONG DAY!

It's been a LONG day! We had a lot to do, plus all three kids worked! Brandon was supposed to work 10-7, but got a call last night asking him to come in at 7am. He ended up getting off at 4. Kaitlin was supposed to work 11:30-4, but they asked her to stay until 8, and she agreed. Then she called back and said they asked her to stay until 11 - almost a 12 hour day! Poor kid! I'm writing this around 10pm, so I can only imagine how tired she will be when she gets off! Kaleb worked 5-10. He went with us out to mom's old house. Mike, Diana and Marilyn met us over there and we got just about everything else packed up. I took a van-load of stuff to Goodwill, then we went to mom's. She didn't have a very good day. Started out the day dizzy and not feeling well, and turned rather grumpy! Corby and I did her grocery shopping while Kaleb stayed and visited with her. Corby and I finally got to go out to dinner all by ourselves! It's been a LONG time! We went to Texas Roadhouse - for the first time. We've tried to go there a couple of times, but the wait is always so long - usually up to 2 hours! I did the call-ahead seating, plus we went at 4pm, so we got right in! We picked up a few necessities from Target and then did our grocery shopping on the way home. Now I'm working on laundry - fun, fun!

I saw a cool thing on a scrapbooking blog tonight - she was listing her TOP 10 favorite things right now, so I thought I'd list MY top 10:

1. Keith Urban's new CD - Love, Pain and the Whole Crazy Thing. At least, I think that's the name of it. I was never really a big Urban fan, but this CD grabbed me and hasn't let go yet!

2. My new video IPOD! I never thought I wanted an IPOD, but since I have to make plates at work several times a week, for at least an hour at a time, I thought that would help pass time (making plates is boring!). I also thought it would come in handy when it's my turn to stay late and paginate the classified pages. It has been a lifesaver! I've put just about all our CD's on it, and still don't have it half full! And Kaitlin put a Rascal Flatts video concert on there for me last week. QUITE FUN!

3. Rosie O'Donnell's blog. I know, I know, she's VERY outspoken, loud and sometimes comes off as obnoxious; but she is also a strong woman who speaks her mind, and asks a lot of important questions. She's certainly made me think about a lot of things the last 6 months.

4. SHARK. Yes, the new TV show with James Woods. It's my favorite new show - and I don't watch much TV! Woods is great in it!

5. REBA. Okay, here's another TV show - when I said I don't watch much TV. What's funny is, I've never been a big REBA music fan, though I've always admired her for her talent and success. But the kids turned me on to the syndicated show - they just finished their last season - and it's a hoot! She is a very talented comedic actress!

6. Sudoku puzzles. They are addictive, but I only like the easy and medium ones. I don't have enough patience for the hard ones!

7. Bath & Body Works Moonlight Path body lotion! I absolutely love the scent!

8. Debbie Macomber (author). She is one of my favorite authors. I picked up her new book - Back on Blossom Street - today at Target.

9. Smaller scrapbooks. I am making an 8x8 scrapbook for Brandon's graduation party. It won't have many pictures in it though. I am lightly decorating the pages with graduation quotes, etc., as I want everybody that comes to the party to write a note in it. It's been fun working on it.

10. Writing this blog. I am not a poetic writer, but I'm finding that writing this blog has been a release for me. As a mother with lots of stress in her life - my mom's fading health/memory, three teenagers with one heading off to college in the fall, money issues, and a full-time job that is alway a challenge; it helps to document to some degree my hectic life!

My quote tonight? "Attitude is the palette by which our lives are painted." - Author Unknown

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair
