Kaleb and Kaitlin started driver's ed on Monday. They haven't actually started driving yet. That starts tomorrow. Kaitlin has some experience, as she had a learner's permit for the last year. Kaleb, our dear, sweet, SMART Kaleb, didn't pass the test. He was never interested in going back to re-take it, so consequently he doesn't have ANY experience. This oughta be fun! Anyway, our schedule is pretty busy right now due to the class. Since summer driver's ed was only offered at two Wichita high schools this summer, we chose East since it's closest to my work. They are in the 9-11am class, so I've been taking them and Brandon has been picking them up. Every third start (starting tomorrow) they will go from 8-12, with an hour of simulation driving before class and an hour of actual driving after class. The next 6 weeks are going to be a blur!
Kaitlin and I are headed to KC this weekend with Brandon and his friend, Owen. The boys have tickets to Rockfest, an outdoor all afternoon & evening concert. We will drop them off, and head off to places unknown for shopping, hanging out at the hotel, etc. Corby is staying home with Kaleb - since Kaleb has to work, and neither one really wanted to go to KC. The Shocker's baseball team is hosting a super regional this weekend; so Corby is looking forward to some great baseball (he never gets it from his favorite major league team, the Cubs - HA!). The games are sold out, so he's glad it's on TV!
Sad, sad story out of KC - the 18 year old girl who disappeared from a Target parking lot last Saturday night - found murdered yesterday afternoon. Just graduated from high school a couple of weeks ago, and she was going to go to K-State. How sad! Makes me want to keep Kaitlin home under lock and key! It's a scary world out there...
I just finished two books: "Company Man" by Joseph Finder - very good! The second one "The Grand Illusion -Love, Lies, and My Life with STYX" by Chuck Panozzo was very interesting. I have been a Styx fan since the 70's. To quote the book jacket "The ultimate backstage pass to the world of Styx, The Grand Illusion follows Chuck's long struggle to reconcile his public life as a hedonistic rock star with his private life as a gay man.....and coming to terms with his HIV positive status." It was interesting to read a story about a guy who had it all - fame and fortune with a very successful rock band - but ultimately lead such a lonely life!
My quote for the day: "Every child is a different kind of flower and all together they make this world a beautiful garden." -- Unknown
