ROCKFEST in Kansas City!

Just got back from a trip to KC! Kaitlin and I took Brandon and his friend, Owen, up yesterday so they could go to the ROCKFEST concert at Liberty Memorial Park. Oh my gosh - WHAT A CROWD OF PEOPLE! They sold 40,000 tickets! It was an all-day concert, starting at noon and going until about midnight. The traffic getting TO the park was terrible, but once we actually got to the park the traffic eased. I guess that's because most everyone else was looking for parking - we were just looking for a place to drop the boys off.

We were very close to Crown Center, so we stopped there and shopped for a while. Kaitlin had never been there, and it had been years since I had been. We went to the Crayola Factory - and yes - my 16-year-old daughter who loves to color - bought a box of 120 colors and a huge Sponge Bob coloring book. We stayed at the Radisson downtown, so we checked in after we left Crown Center. After getting our things settled at the hotel, we took off again. Went to Oak Park Mall for a few hours (spent very little money - a GOOD thing!) and then went to TGI Friday's and grabbed a burger for dinner.

The boys weren't ready to be picked up until almost 10pm. It was MUCH easier picking them up than dropping them off. They had a great time, but did get sunburned (didn't heed mom's warning of sunscreen!!). They got to see a little of everything - half-naked women, people getting drunk and then sick, people smoking pot, etc. They couldn't understand why people pay good money to go see bands they like, and then get so wasted they don't enjoy it! HMMMM! Hope they continue to feel that way...

We hit the road about 9:30 this morning, and after a quick stop at McDonald's (YUCK!) for breakfast, and one stop for gas; we made it home around 1pm.

Corby was nice enough to finish the laundry that Kaitlin and I started on Friday. He even picked up a few groceries at Dillon's. We can't do the bulk of our grocery shopping until we get our new refrigerator tomorrow. We are tired of living out of a cooler!

My current book: "Heart of the Night" by Barbara Delinsky. Not one of her best books, but I am going to finish it!

Today's quote is from Mother Teresa. It's a little long, but well worth it:

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is bliss, taste it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it.

Isn't This Gross?

Corby lets Muffin drink out of his milk glass. Isn't that disgusting? I love animals, but I sure don't share my drinks with them. YUCK! Brandon will be home tomorrow - on his 19th birthday! His last final is at 12:30. Corby & Kaleb are headed up to help him bring his stuff home. I was planning on going, but because Hope is out on medical leave, I can't take off. That's okay - I really wasn't looking forward to carrying his stuff down 7 flights of stairs! YIPPEE - MY BABY IS COMING HOME FOR THE SUMMER! Does anyone else out there love "House Hunters" - the show on HGTV? For some reason, that show grabs me. I like to see the 3 houses the couples (sometimes singles) choose from. Of course, most of them have a lot more money than we do! Saw one last night that was a young couple in Chicago - lived in the inner city, but with 2 kids decided to move to the suburbs. Their goal was to find a house for under $1,000,000. That a million dollars folks! How can peop...

Terrible Day

I'm not going to go into a lot of detail here, but suffice it to say that I had a TERRIBLE day at work! I made a huge mistake costing the company some revenue, and I feel awful! I certainly didn't need anyone to get on my butt, because I was kicking myself for the better part of the day. I know, I know, I'm human, but this was a BIG human mistake! I hate to admit that I'm human! HATE TO MAKE MISTAKES - ESPECIALLY BIG ONES! Okay, that's it. I'm having a margarita and trying to relax now. I'm done with being human for a while!
