Last Day of Vacation

Why do vacation days just FLY by? Work days sure don't go by that fast! LOL!

I've got to show you this picture of our "less than intelligent" cat. Her name is Muffin, and she's 1 year old. I had been cleaning one of my Longaberger protectors, and had it sitting on the floor. I heard noise behind me, and this is what I saw when I turned around...This is the same cat who drinks water with her paw, sits in the bathroom sink waiting for you to turn the water on, and attacks Callie (our 12 year old cat) whenever she can. Kaitlin calls her "demon kitty". That might be a bit harsh, but it's pretty darn close to her behavior!

Brandon had his first college calculus test last night, and he said it was "easier than I thought it would be." We had planned on going up to Manhattan this Saturday for "Family Day", but he has to work 2-11pm, so we're not going.

I took Kaitlin to look at a couple of cars for sale after she got home from school (Kaleb had to work tonight). She is looking for something $2000 or less. We saw a 97 Ford Thunderbird in the paper for $1995, and after a "reverse lookup" on YellowPages.com, we found out it was at a car lot on South Seneca. They also had a 92 Nissan Maxima that we wanted to look at. Well, the Maxima was gone and the Thunderbird was a piece of CRAP! They were quick to get us the keys to look at it, but the interior was trashed, and it wouldn't even start! They only had one other car in her price range, and it was in pretty sorry shape too. It had a big dent on the side, and didn't have any side mirrors. I realize $2000 isn't much for a car, but you kind of expect it to start, and also to have the basics! Guess we'll keep searching...

I did one more scrapbook page today:

I love this picture so much that I couldn't trim it, so I made it the focus of the page.
Today's music: Monster Ballads from the 70's & 80's: songs like SOMEONE TO BELIEVE IN by Poison; IS THIS LOVE by Whitesnake and WIND OF CHANGE by the Scorpions. Some good songs on this CD...

Finished the BTK book. I was surprised that there was quite a bit in there that was new information to me. Not sure what book I will start tonight. I have a few in mind.

And our quote for the day: "Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower." -- Albert Camus. Fitting quote since Fall is just around the corner.

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore
