New Radiator Needed

Enjoyed our day in Manhattan yesterday, but the upshot of Brandon's car trouble is that he needs a new radiator and fan. It's a good thing we drove both the van and Suburban up, as we left the Suburban for him to drive for a few days. The parts stores in Manhattan could order us a radiator, but not until Tuesday. Corby called parts stores here today and found one, so we bought it and the fan. We will be going back up to Manhattan on Wed. to fix the car. Brandon went to his orientation at Dillons while we were messing with his car. After he was done, we went to Target and bought him some work pants - he also bought some new shoes. We went back to his dorm room and hung out for a while, and then we took him to dinner at Chili's before heading home. He seems to be doing really well, has his plan for doing homework, and isn't playing too many video games - at least not until evenings after he has all his schoolwork done. His hours will vary at Dillons, and it looks like they will use him some in the dairy since he has experience. He's excited that he works 6am-11am this coming Saturday, as he had already bought tickets to see Three Days Grace at the fair in Hutchinson. He and Kaitlin are going to the concert. Corby and I will go with them and hang out at the fair while they go to the show. Hopefully his Sunday work schedule will be a bit later in the day or he'll be lucky enough to have the day off. We'll see. I don't want him to have to drive back to Manhattan after the concert!

Kaleb and Kaitlin are both working 7-4 today - the nice thing is that they get paid time and a half since it's a holiday. Corby is going to fix tacos/taco salad for dinner! Otherwise, we're just doing our normal "Sunday" routine (since we were gone yesterday) of laundry, paying bills, cleaning, etc. You know, the fun stuff!

Today's music - Grand Funk Railroad! Some more old 70's music!

And the quote for today - fitting since Corby will be fixing Brandon's car (and probably saving him about $300): "A father is someone you look up to no matter how tall you are." -- Unknown

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore

K-STATE WINS!

K-STATE beat KU! AWESOME! It was a tense game. Corby is a huge KU fan, and even having a son at K-State hasn't changed that. I am happy when any Kansas team does well; but I had to root for K-State tonight. If the Jayhawks had to lose, I'm glad it was to K-State. Michael Beasley is a great player, and my only concern is that he will leave after his freshman year and go pro. WAY TO GO CATS!
