Weekend Fun

Had a great time at the fair yesterday! Brandon came down for the weekend, along with his roommate Brady. Kaitlin and Kaleb both took off work, and we all went to the fair. (Corby stayed home since we're going to the fair again this Thursday). Brandon and Kaitlin went to the concert - 3 Days Grace and Seether; while Kaleb, Brady and I wandered the fair watching people, rabbits, chickens, the petting zoo, etc. When the concert was over the kids rode a few rides - though it's way too expensive at $3-$5 per person per ride! I bought a family pack of 22 tickets for $20 and that was it for the rides!

Here are Kaleb & Kaitlin on the Tilt-A-Whirl:Here's a cute little bunny rabbit:
Here's a cute kangaroo from the petting zoo:

We also celebrated birthday's today at my older sister's apartment. We celebrated my nephew Nick's 31st birthday
and my sister Marilyn's 40-something birthday
Brandon was able to enjoy the birthday celebrations with us before he headed back to K-State this evening. DRIVE SAFELY SON! Kaleb and Kaitlin both had to work all day today, so they missed out on the celebration, including pizza and DQ ice cream cake!

We got the yard mowed this afternoon, enjoying the cooler weather. Corby says there is a cool front on the way. I hope so, as I am ready for fall!

It's almost time for the beginning of another work week. On Tuesday I will be helping out with our annual "Taking It to the Streets" campaign. We "hawk" newspapers at busy intersections around town raising money for United Way. I will be at 21st & Amidon, so come on by between 6:30 and 10 am on Tuesday. Yes, that means I have to get up REALLY early, and I am NOT an early bird! I have a feeling I'll crash mid-afternoon, so I plan on heading home around 3pm.

Current book: Power Play by Joseph Finder. I've read several of his books, and I really enjoy them.

Current music: Skillet - a Christian rock band. Brandon turned me on to them...

And the quote for today is: "Children are living jewels dropped unstained from heaven." -- Unknown

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore

K-STATE WINS!

K-STATE beat KU! AWESOME! It was a tense game. Corby is a huge KU fan, and even having a son at K-State hasn't changed that. I am happy when any Kansas team does well; but I had to root for K-State tonight. If the Jayhawks had to lose, I'm glad it was to K-State. Michael Beasley is a great player, and my only concern is that he will leave after his freshman year and go pro. WAY TO GO CATS!
