The Sandman

It was a typical B-U-S-Y Saturday! Started out the day by going to Leeker's for the free Pancake Feed! Kaitlin had to be there at 6am to help get the tables ready. She's experienced at working Pancake Feeds as she helped Corby and Kaleb at the Boy Scout feeds in past years. We did all of our errand running, and visited mom. We took her winter clothes to her, and some other things she had been asking for. We had a nice visit. Also had to make a Sam's run - needed dog & cat food, and other necessities.

Tonight Corby and I went out with our good friends, Cindy & Jerry, and their daughter and son-in-law, Megan and Mike. We ate dinner at El Rodeo, and then went to the Looney Bin to see The Sandman, a comic hypnotist. Now, I don't know how much of it I believed, but the 4 women and 4 men he "put under" did hilarious things! We originally wanted Megan to go up on stage, but after seeing what he did, we're glad she didn't. It would have been too uncomfortable seeing this 21-year-old girl who I've known since before she was born doing semi-pornographic things! All in all, it was a fun night, possibly because of the two pitchers of margaritas Cindy, Megan and I finished off! Corby and Mike stuck with beer, while Jerry had a few mixed drinks. I'm glad Corby didn't drink much, as I pretty much needed a designated driver! Since I rarely drink, it sure felt GOOD!

I am looking forward to couple of days of vacation next week. I was originally taking off Mon. and Tues., but the girl who works for me needed to take Monday off, so I switched to Tues. & Wed. At this point, I don't care what days I get off, as long as I get some time away from work!

I am still reading "The Pact" by Jodi Picoult. It is really good, but I haven't had much time to read the last few days. I am hoping to finish it by Monday or Tuesday. Not sure what I will read next. It depends on whether or not the library calls to tell my one of the 9 books I put on hold is in...

And our Saturday quote is from Dr. Seuss:

"Be who you are and say what
you feel because those who
mind don't matter, and those
who matter don't mind."

Cindy? Cindy Trenary?? She looks great. Haven't seen her in forever! -- Looks like y'all had a good time.

And... I LOVE your quote... it's one of my favorite quotes ever. It's one that I have loved for quite some time.

Believe in the Sandman Linda. I was one that got up on stage about 7 or 8 years ago and that stuff works. It's crazy. And yes, we have the video (under lock and key). ;o)

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore
