Doing Better!

My sister Rhonda is doing much better. She had surgery on her toe today, and at least for now, they did not have to amputate it. They cleaned out the infection and shaved a bit of bone for a biopsy. We are praying the biopsy comes back negative for infection in the bone! She is finally in a regular room tonight!

Brandon is home! YIPPEE! It was so nice to get a great big hug from him! He got home around 4:15, and then he and Kaleb left around 5pm for the Three Days Grace (and more) concert tonight at the Coliseum. I spent the afternoon at the hospital with Rhonda but got home just in time to see Brandon before they headed to the concert. It will be nice to have him home for a few days. He'll be back again in a few weeks for spring break. It falls at the same time Wichita schools are out, so the kids will enjoy spending some time together. His last day of classes is on his birthday - May 16th. He has 2 finals that day.

Oh, and exciting news tonight. Kaitlin made the Madrigals for her senior year at Heights. It's truly funny how it happened though. She didn't even try out. She had to do an "audition" as part of her grade for Concert Choir. Her teacher did ask her if she was interested in a new all-female chorus they have planned for next year, but she didn't commit one way or the other. Today several of her friends said they saw her name on the madrigals list that was posted. Sure enough, when she checked, her name was there! Now she has to drop 2 classes on her enrollment list for next year because she has to be in concert choir as well as Madrigals. This from a girl who hadn't planned on taking ANY music next year! We are so proud of her. I guess all her singing along to Rascal Flatts songs over the last few years has been a good thing!
Oh, and about Rascal Flatts. You absolutely CANNOT get in her truck and find any other CD in her player. EVERY time I've ridden somewhere with her, that's what she's listening to. She says she listens to other artists too, but I'm not sure I believe her.

Kaleb is going to "Saturday Academy" at Heights. It is an 8-week Saturday morning class preparing him for AP History next year. He signed up on his own, without even telling us. He wants to take as many AP classes as possible. If they pass the final test, it counts as college credit! The twins are both taking two AP tests in April - which will count as 6 college credit hours if they pass. Of course, the tests are $85 ea. x 2, so I've got to come up with $340 by the deadline next week! Good thing they told me in January so I could save up some moolah!

So glad everything is looking better for Rhonda. Whew!
Tell Rhonda I am thinking of her!

AP is a great program - I did the US History test and got 6 credit hours for it. I also did CLEP after I got back from Ecuador and got 12 credit hours for Spanish.

It's good to hear your sister is doing better. And I enjoy reading about your kiddos! I like all your K/C names...and Kaleb (with a K) might make a nice name for Kyle's sibling, don't you think? Thanks for the idea!

First Day of School

It's tradition at my house to take a "first day of school" picture. The kids get less and less thrilled every year, but I still do it. Here are the twins before they left for their first day of senior year: Kind of funny that they both wore gray - unplanned of course! I think Kaitlin is putting in her plug for the college she'd like to go to. They had a good day. Found out that at 1800 students, Heights is over their limit by 400 students!!! OMG! I'm not sure what the answer is, but it is WAY TOO CROWDED! I think the northeast side of town needs a new high school. Something needs to be done! Just finished my Nora Roberts book, and have started New Moon, the second book in Stephenie Meyer's vampire series. Kaitlin took Abby to the vet yesterday to get her last distemper shot and a rabies shot. The vet told her that she comes from a line of very strong / physically superior cats. I knew there was some reason that she climbs EVERYWHERE in the house, including u...
