REBA AND KELLY

I went to the Reba / Kelly Clarkson concert Thursday night with my sister-in-law Diana and some friends. Had a wonderful time!

EXCELLENT CONCERT! I've enjoyed Reba's music over the years, but never been a huge fan. I do however love her TV show. What a surprise when the opening act ended up being Melissa Peterman - the stand-up comedian who played Barbara Jean on the REBA show. Oh my gosh, she was so funny!
I think some people thought that Kelly Clarkson would open the show; but instead it was Reba and Kelly on stage the whole 1 3/4 hours. I only knew a few of Kelly's songs (I don't watch American Idol); but was impressed with her vocal talent. I wasn't too impressed with her overlong jeans - and I mean 12 inches or more overlong; but that didn't hamper her moving around the stage. I saw in the Eagle's review the next day that she was also barefoot. Ouch! I think my favorite songs were "Because of You" the duet they recorded for Reba's Duets CD; Kelly's "Beautiful Disaster"; and Reba's "Does He Love You". There were no special effects, just lots of music. Reba looked great, and still puts on a great show.We weren't as close as I thought we were going to be. The seats ended up being about 14 rows up, but they were just to the left side of the stage. The big screen came in handy to see the close ups. As you can tell, I don't have a super-dooper zoom lens on my camera.
They came back and did an encore that had the crowd pumped. WOO HOO!I enjoyed the concert so much that I picked up Kelly's CDs @ Target today. I'm listening to the Breakaway CD right now. The My December CD is next. Then it will be Reba's #1's! Time to party!

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore
