MUSIC


It's been a busy week. Heights Concert Choir performed at Friends University last night. Kaitlin had to go to practice Monday night and all day Tuesday. Since she had never been to Friends, I drove her Monday night so she knew where to go on Tuesday (she's directionally challenged!). While she was there Monday night I took the opportunity to do some shopping - not one of my favorite things! I had planned to meet her and Corby at Quizno's for dinner yesterday before the concert since Kaitlin had about 2 1/2 hours to kill. Unfortunately, I ended up having to work late, so she got to have dinner with just her daddy! The concert was AWESOME! Honestly, I am only usually interested in her portion of the concert, but this was quite enjoyable. There were several groups that performed: Friends Concert Choir, the Derby High School Madrigrals, Cowley County Community College, the Friends Singing Quakers, the Friends Choral Union, and then there was the Choral Connections Festival Chorus (almost all of the performers) and the Choral Connections Mass Choir (all of the performers). Heights sang "Tambur", "Water Night" and the crowd favorite "Battle of Jericho". They received the loudest ovation for the last song. The Friends Choral Union sang "Praise His Holy Name" and that also wowed the crowd. The guest conductor, Eph Ehly, was so fun! He retired from the CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC, UNIVERSITY of MISSOURI-KANSAS CITY after 27 years of service, and he is quite the energetic guy! Kaitlin said he reminded her of Steve Martin. He was high fiving the kids and shaking hands at the end of each song. VERY ENJOYABLE SHOW! I didn't take my camera - I'm usually so far away from the stage that I can't get decent pictures. And of course, this time, I was in the 4th row and could have gotten some good shots. They gave each student one free reserved ticket...UGH!

Went to mom's quarterly care meeting today at Presbyterian Manor. Everything is going well, and she is now officially their "welcoming resident". She greets each new resident and tries to make their transition smoother to the care home. WAY TO GO MOM!

I-Pod Mania

What's Good

Here's what's good right now: 1. Corby's OKAY after an accident at work today! He was on the forklift pulling onto a truck when the truck driver pulled away from the dock apparently to reallign himself (WHAT AN IDIOT DRIVER!!!) and he fell off the dock. Thank goodness there is a roll-bar on those forklifts. He has a headache and will probably be stiff tomorrow, but says he is okay. They sent him for a drug test. It's their policy if someone has an accident at work. 2. Feeling much better. I'm about 75% well now. Still have a cough and some sinus issues, but I think I'll survive. 3. Spending today with Kaleb & Kaitlin. 4. Having such good kids. Leeker's just called Kaitlin to see if she'd work longer hours today. They have a lot of employees out sick.
