Back from Kansas City

Can you believe I forgot to take my camera to Kansas City? Oh well, it's not like I haven't been there dozen's of times! We got the boys to the Rockfest concert about 10:45am. They got to share the experience with 50,000 folks. They were offered pills, weed and beer by 1pm. Thank goodness I have smart teenagers who don't partake of such offerings. When Kaitlin texted them about 1, Brandon said they were enjoying watching boobs and beer drinkers. Yeah, I said they were smart teenagers, I didn't say they were blind! They saw people getting sick, people passing out, and a some people actually enjoying the concerts. Kaitlin and I spent the day shopping, and we didn't spend very much money at all. The most we spent was at Bath & Body Works at Oak Park Mall. They were having a great clearance sale and we stocked up on lotions and hand soap. We ate dinner at Macaroni Grill. YUM! Kaitlin swam for a while in the hotel pool while I dangled my feet in the hot tub. We went back and picked the boys up around 9:30, and after stopping to get them some dinner, were back at the hotel by around 11pm. GREAT fun!
I guess we missed the excitement at mom's nursing home yesterday morning. They had a deer jump through one of the resident's windows and run up and down the hall. They finally got their front doors open and the deer ran out. It was subsequently run over by a car and had to be euthanized. No one was injured, but it sure caused a lot of excitement.

Corby did the rest of the laundry for me this weekend, as well as cleaning the kitchen and bathroom. What a guy! Thanks hon!

Doh?!? A deer. A female deer! I'm glad no one was hurt, but the poor deer. Crazy! Glad you're back safely from the sex, drugs and rock 'n roll mecca that is Kansas City!

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore
