On The Border Celebration

Happy Birthday to my sister Rhonda (on May 30th)! We celebrated with a family get together at On The Border this afternoon. GREAT fun! Of course, I had a couple of GRANDE margaritas! Hey, Brandon was driving, so it was okay! We had a great time. Our waiter was very gracious, considering there were 11 of us! The twins were unable to go because they both had to work, and my sister-in-law, Sandy, had a scrapbooking class so she was unable to join us. But the rest of us had a great time - great food - great family time! We're already planning our July 4th get-together. It's nice that July 4th falls on a Friday this year!

Here is a picture of the birthday girl:Here is my baby brother Mike and the birthday girl:Here's is Corby and Brandon:Here is my nephew Nick and my mom:Here is my little sister Marilyn and her significant other Mark. Not the greatest picture, but I had to get them in on this blog. And last, but not least (notice how I managed to stay out of the photos since I was taking them?) is my sister-in-law Diana and brothers Mike and Terry (Jim Bob):Here's the story on Jim Bob - his given name is James Terry, but he was always Terry growing up. Once he hit high school and then college, he started going by Jim, but I absolutely cannot call him Jim - he is Terry and will always be Terry. Several years ago, when his wife Sandy was calling him Jim (she tries to remember to call him Terry when she is around us) I decided to call him Jim Bob. So that's where the Jim Bob name came from. Hey - it's a good Kansas name. Corby's step-dad's brother, who lives in Oklahoma, is named Joe Bob - and that's his real name. At least Terry's "Jim Bob" is fake!

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair
