August? Where did July go?

Can you believe it is August already? Where did the summer go? School starts next Thursday!

Look at these two beautiful kitty cats!Aren't they sweet? Getting Abby was the best thing for Muffin. She was missing Callie, even though Callie was old when we got Muffin, and they didn't really play together, but they did snuggle up next to each other sometimes. Abby is still very much a kitten, and can be very annoying, especially if she climbs up your legs (yes, she'll be getting declawed when she's 6 months old). But she is also a sweetie pie!

And now - the biggest project in our house the last couple of days? Clearing out the boys bedroom and painting! And I have to say I didn't have to do any of it!!!! (That's the best part). Kaleb has been wanting to paint his (well it's his when Brandon is gone) bedroom for a while. We told him a couple of weeks ago that if he totally cleaned it out, including the closet that was a disaster area, he could paint. Lo and behold - he did it! Actually, he and Brandon went through the entire bedroom last week and filled up several trash bags. So...we went and bought paint last night. Kaitlin helped Kaleb with all the prep work and painting, and it's taking shape. Here it is still in progress. My camera batteries died while I was trying to take a picture of Corby putting up the new ceiling fan. I'll post a picture of the room when it's all done. We still have to get some curtains and clean the carpet before moving stuff back in. Carpet cleaning will happen tomorrow night. I'm really proud of the kids. They did a great job. I asked Kaitlin if she wants to paint the rest of the house and she's ready! Now we just have to pick some colors, and figure out how to paint the entryway. Living in a bi-level can be a pain! Oh well, we will figure something out, someday!

Music playing right now - Keith Anderson's new CD "C'mon". Kaitlin went and got it today at Best Buy. REALLY, REALLY GOOD! He's from Oklahoma and pretty much a hunk too!

I am SO ready for this heat to be gone! Even 90 sounds good...try to stay cool everybody!

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair
