It's Finished!

The boys room is mostly finished. We are still looking for a futon since Brandon took his bed to Manhattan with him. Here is the finished room:

The cool new lamp:And yes, Kaleb's dresser - actually CLEAN!Kaleb did a good job - with a LOT of help from Kaitlin. Now we just need to teach him that you don't wear white t-shirts, good jean shorts and good socks when you are painting!

Saturn woes...while heading to get my hair cut yesterday morning, the battery light came on, and it started overheating. Thankfully we were near Fantastic Sam's AND Jiffy Lube. Found out the belt tensioner broke, thus destroying the belts. I called the guy who sold us the car at OK Sales, and they sent a tow truck. It will be getting fixed on Monday. I've only had the dadgum thing 2 weeks! At least it is still under warranty. We were basically stranded. Kaleb was with us, and Kaitlin was working. I had to call Leeker's and talk to the manager to see if Kaitlin could leave long enough to come and get Kaleb and bring him home so he could get his car. They were very nice and allowed her to leave, so we were soon back on the road again. Had a nice visit with mom. Her cataract surgery is scheduled for this Tuesday, so I will be taking the day off work to take her. She doesn't seem too nervous about it. We did our grocery shopping, and later in the afternoon went shopping at Target. The east store didn't have everything we were looking for, so we hit the Maize Rd. store this morning and finished our shopping.

Corby is fixing ham and beans for dinner. Kaitlin gets off at 6 and Kaleb gets off at 7. Got bills paid today, including mom's bills. I'm going to have to get her on Medicaid soon, so I'll be spending some time investigating how that system works. If anyone has any tips, please let me know.

Music today is totally varied - I have my I-POD on shuffle. I'm even hearing Christmas music! Brandon has turned me on to a new band - well - they aren't new - but they're new to me - SHINEDOWN! I really like them! I guess they will be here in concert in September and he's trying to get me to go. We'll see...

Isn't it sad that Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes both died this weekend?

That sucks about the car!!
Room looks awesome.
I was stunned about Bernie Mac. It was very weird because Justin and I were JUST talking about him before I went inside and turned on E! and saw that he passed. weird

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore
