Stuff....

I apologize for all of the cat/kitty pictures, but I can't help it...aren't they adorable? They both love to crash in the window in the basement...The only way they can reach the window is from my desk. We have a "no lag" rule. If they jump on my desk, they must immediately jump into the window. They follow the rules when I'm here, but who knows what they do when I'm gone?

It's been a STRANGE week at work. We received an e-mail late Tuesday afternoon that the VP of Operations was leaving to pursue other options. As a member of the Operations group, I was surprised. He had been off on personal leave for a couple of weeks, but it was an unexpected departure. One of the guys who started a copy boy in the newsroom and worked there into his 7o's? - used to say "I've seen 'em come, and I've seen 'em go." Well - I'm at that point now. I'll celebrate my 32nd anniversary in November (if I make it that long) and I'm beginning to feel like ol' Wayne! The newspaper business is in dire straits right now!

Mom's cataract surgery went well on Tuesday. My sister took her yesterday morning for a quick check, and they said the eye was healing well. We are hoping to get her some of those "magnifying" glasses at Walmart to tide her over until they get her fitted for new glasses. The doctor said those might help her see better in the interim. I hope so as she really struggles to see. The nursing home is having a LUAU this Saturday afternoon, so we are going to go party!!!!

My current book is Lady Killer by Lisa Scottoline. It's hooked me - I hope to finish it tonight or tomorrow.

Today's music: Montgomery Gentry's new CD. VERY GOOD!

And a quote to end the post - fittingly about twins since this is their senior year:
" Twins...
Like branches on a tree, we grow in different directions,
yet our roots remain as one.
Each of our lives will always be a special part of the other."

Ahhh...how can Justin resist their cute little faces? What would he do if you just showed up with one? Use those feminine wiles on him!
Hey you know I love kitty pictures - keep 'em coming! And while you're at it - you should enter my latest book contest. I think you'd really like it :)

BTW - I LOVE the twin quote - I may have to share that one with Jim, as he and Tim are twins!

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore

K-STATE WINS!

K-STATE beat KU! AWESOME! It was a tense game. Corby is a huge KU fan, and even having a son at K-State hasn't changed that. I am happy when any Kansas team does well; but I had to root for K-State tonight. If the Jayhawks had to lose, I'm glad it was to K-State. Michael Beasley is a great player, and my only concern is that he will leave after his freshman year and go pro. WAY TO GO CATS!
