Employee Appreciation!

Today was Employee Appreciation day at Foley Equipment - the local Caterpillar distributor that Corby works for. Several hundred employees met at their new Park City facility (no Corby is not at this location - YET!) for tours, food, games, prizes, etc. They bought the former Optima Bus location at 77th and N. Hydraulic, and it is a fantastic place! The place is huge, with overhead cranes, a paint shop (yes, to paint refurbished machines that wonderful golden yellow and black); tons of square footage, and beautiful offices. Ann (Foley) Konecny threw a wonderful celebration for her employees - which was much appreciated. Employees came from their other Kansas locations: Salina, Great Bend, Liberal and Dodge City. It's nice that some companies still believe in showing employee appreciation!

We also visited with mom, who is seeing much better with her recent cataract surgery and subsequent new glasses; did grocery shopping, and watched the Chicago Cubs win their division. Was Corby happy? YOU BET! Was I happy? YOU BET! That means I didn't have to listen to the "woe is me" crap! HA!

I finished my Karin Slaughter book - Fractured. It was really good! I've got about 30 books to choose from for my next read, but haven't quite decided yet. Right now, I'm reading a few magazines that have piled up...I have to fill that voracious need to read you know!

HAPPY WEEKEND TO ALL!

which location does your brother-in-law work? Corby said he doesn't know him. Corby works at the main facility at Harry & West, and Barnaby works at their truck shop down the street.

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore

K-STATE WINS!

K-STATE beat KU! AWESOME! It was a tense game. Corby is a huge KU fan, and even having a son at K-State hasn't changed that. I am happy when any Kansas team does well; but I had to root for K-State tonight. If the Jayhawks had to lose, I'm glad it was to K-State. Michael Beasley is a great player, and my only concern is that he will leave after his freshman year and go pro. WAY TO GO CATS!
