I got my car back on Thursday. Turns out it was just a broken clamp on one of the hoses. Yeah! I plan on driving as much as possible before we head to Manhattan next weekend to see Brandon.
I had a late night at work last night. My classified staff was VERY busy, and since we were short-handed (one out of 5 ad-takers was on vacation), my closer was behind. She had to handle all of the on-line and e-mailed ads, as well as take hotline calls. She finally closed out about 6:55pm, and then I was able to get started on the weekend classified sections. It's a big weekend because of the Career Expo on Tuesday, so I didn't finish until after 8pm. Let's just say that I was glad to finally get home around 8:30!
Did our usual Saturday errand-running. I managed to squeeze a haircut in there, and between trips to Walmart, Dillons and Leeker's I got laundry started.
Corby is ready to watch the Cubs tonight. However, since they are down 2 games in a 5 game series, they have to win the next 3 to go to the National League finals. I don't think that is going to happen! I have a feeling I will be listening to my I-pod shortly after the game starts at 9 tonight!
We are thinking about going to see Fiddler on the Roof at Crown Uptown for my birthday later this month. The twins haven't been there since they were in elementary school and went for a field trip. Fiddler is one of my all-time favorite plays, so I'm anxious for them to see it. I know almost all of the music by heart!
Congratulations to a good friend of mine, Candi, for getting a new job as a tool scheduler at Cessna! She starts in about a week. And I'd like to ask for prayers for two other great friends who are also looking for jobs: Melody, my best friend for the last 31+ years, and Chris, my good friend and former co-worker. They are still out there pounding the pavement. They are both very talented and I'm sure something great is going to come up for both of them soon.
Today's music: PINK's "I'm Not Dead". Love the song Stupid Girls, but the best song on the CD is Dear Mr. President. Here are the lyrics:

Dear Mr. President
Come take a walk with me
Let's pretend we're just two people and
You're not better than me
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly
What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep
What do you feel when you look in the mirror
Are you proud
How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why
Dear Mr. President
Were you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
How can you say
No child is left behind
We're not dumb and we're not blind
They're all sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell
What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine
How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye
Let me tell you bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
You don't know nothing bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
Oh
How do you sleep at night
How do you walk with your head held high
Dear Mr. President
You'd never take a walk with me
Would you
Come take a walk with me
Let's pretend we're just two people and
You're not better than me
