It's over and we survived!

The last week has been hectic but wonderful! I only had to work 2 days (Tues & Wed.) which is a good thing because we had a lot going on. Finishing shopping and wrapping gifts on Monday. Wednesday night my whole family met at my youngest brother's. He and his wife Diana hosted our annual Christmas Eve "junk food night" and gift exchange! Then we hosted everyone at our house for dinner on Christmas day. Corby cooked an awesome ham and scalloped potatoes, while I fixed sweet potato casserole and green bean casserole, and of course we had plenty of other food and sweets as well. Wonderful time spent with a wonderful family and friends!

Pics from Christmas Eve...

We have a habit of taking "goofy face" pictures, dating back to my dad and his younger brother, Gerald. Some day I will find some of those old pictures and post them, but for now - first it's Kaitlin (with my brother Mike)
then my brother Terry
then my sister Rhondathen my sister Marilynand last my niece LenoreCan you tell we were having fun with ribbon?

Christmas Eve was also my mom's 81st birthday. She got some much-needed items, including clothing and a new magnifying glass. She also got a new Christmas bear...Corby and I celebrated our 21st anniversary yesterday by spending it with the kids. Everybody was off work, so we headed out to hit the after-Christmas sales. We hit Best Buy, Circuit City, Kohl's and Target on the west side, and then headed east to Barnes and Noble and Ultimate Electronics. We all went out to Abuelo's for dinner (YUM!) and then went to Towne East Mall for a while and people-watched. Then we came home and watched "Stepbrothers" - well Corby and the kids watched it while I messed around on the computer since I'm not a Will Ferrell fan.

Tomorrow we're headed to Cheddar's for a last family get-together before Lenore heads back to Germany to celebrate New Year's with Daniel. She and I traded some books - and I also bought some used books today at Book-a-holic - so I'm set on books for a while.

I hope everyone had a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and has a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore
