25 Things

I've been tagged by a friend on Facebook. Write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits or goals about you. Here's goes:

1) I subscribe to lots of magazines, including Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, People, Scrapbooks Etc., Good Housekeeping, etc.
2) I love all kinds of music: Contemporary Christian, Classic Rock, Alternative, Pop, Country, New Age
3) I am the middle child. I have an older brother & sister, and a younger brother & sister.
4) I LOVE TO READ! I know, if you're a reader of my blog, you already know this. I read EVERY day, even if it's just the newspaper. It's what I do to wind down before bed.
5) I love to work puzzles - crosswords, sudoku's, word games, jigsaws, etc. Maybe that's why I love to lay out papers. It's definitely a jigsaw puzzle every day.
6) I feel blessed to have 3 wonderful kids and a super-fantastic husband! Now if we could only win the lottery!
7) I like to munch on dry Cheerios. (pretty healthy)
8) I also like to munch on sunflower seeds. (okay, not so healthy)
9) I once waited in line 24 hours for Barry Manilow tickets. We were first in line, and the story even made the paper. I can't remember the exact year, but it was probably the late 70s or early 80's and the first time he'd been in Wichita since he toured when "Mandy" first came out. The concert was awesome, and yes, we had front row seats.
10) When I was in high school, and my brother was stationed at Minot Air Force Base, I talked my folks into taking me to an Osmond concert in Bismarck. We were visiting my brother and my folks took us. Well, my mom went to the concert, my dad dropped us off. And I can still remember there was a bomb scare that night, but no one left the arena, and we had a great time.
11) I have wonderful memories of hanging out with my St. Louis cousins. The best memories? My sister and my 2 cousins and I singing along to Monkee's songs with us taking turns being Micky, Davy, Peter and Mike. Yes, I still remember their names, and I can still sing the lyrics of most of their songs.
12) I grew up Catholic, but have since become Methodist.
13) Corby and I met on a blind date. A lady I worked with was his step-dad's aunt, and she set us up. The rest is history. Thanks, Nina!
14) My first car was a 1968 Camaro. Wish I still had that thing!
15) I love to watch college basketball. My heart will always be with the Shockers, and Corby is a huge KU fan, but since I have one kid at K-State (and 2 more on the way) I'm now a Wildcat fan too!
16) My dad, who passed away in 1994, was a salesman for Coors for years, and then owned his own liquor store for about 15 years before he passed away. I used to work there several nights a week, and other that some weird things happening, at least I didn't get hit over the head with a bottle of wine and robbed like my dad, or have a gun shoved in my face and get handcuffed to the wine rack like my mom. Thanks goodness we don't own a liquor store anymore!
17) Our best vacation with the kids - San Antonio. Our best vacation without the kids - an Alaskan cruise.
18) My mom is my hero. Because my dad worked a lot, she got past her shyness (yes, for those of you who know her, she was shy at one time) and started selling Tupperware. And boy did she shine! She was a great salesperson, and traveled around the country going to conventions. I'm so happy she did that. She made lots of friends that she still has to this day.
19) I collect quotes. I have a journal with me at all times, and if I see a good one, I write it down.
20) I also collect concert ticket stubs. I've seen so many concerts over the years that I can't even remember them all. Once in a while I get out my old scrapbook and look at the stubs. Oh, and the cheap ticket prices from the old days!
21) I am looking forward to having grandchildren. Not real soon, but after college. For Brandon that will be a couple of years; for the twins - 4 or 5 years. I hope I'll still be around to enjoy them!
22) My kids would NEVER sit on Santa's lap. I have no pictures of them with Santa until they were older. In fact, I have a recent one of Kaleb posing with Santa in Dec. 2006.
23) My favorite restauraunt right now is Abuelo's. However, this changes monthly (ha!)
24) I used to collect Longaberger baskets. I have approximately 95 now. I've started selling a few on E-bay, but there are some I will never part with. (Oh, and I used to sell Longaberger too)
25) I have become a Facebook junkie. It started as a way to keep in touch with Brandon at K-State, and has turned into this MONSTER! I just love connecting with people, and have actually re-connected with a few high school classmates.

Okay, that's my "25 Things". Now it's your turn...

I forgot about you going to that concert in ND when you all came up to visit me. Also I know you were the middle child, but never before though about there being a brother and sister on each side in the order B,S,You,S,B. New thought.

I think you're right Anne. If I could locate my ticket stub scrapbook, I'd know for sure because I still have the story out of the paper.

I'm pretty sure we were in the "closet" when that happened. I came there in 1981. ~Anne

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair

Terrible Day

I'm not going to go into a lot of detail here, but suffice it to say that I had a TERRIBLE day at work! I made a huge mistake costing the company some revenue, and I feel awful! I certainly didn't need anyone to get on my butt, because I was kicking myself for the better part of the day. I know, I know, I'm human, but this was a BIG human mistake! I hate to admit that I'm human! HATE TO MAKE MISTAKES - ESPECIALLY BIG ONES! Okay, that's it. I'm having a margarita and trying to relax now. I'm done with being human for a while!
