The Crud

Well, I guess it was meant to be. Everyone else in the family has had the "crud" - now it's my turn. It started with Kaitlin's walking pneumonia, progressed to Kaleb's missing a day of school last week with a bad cold, cough and chest congestion; then on to Corby who's had mostly a cough; to me - with all of it! It's weird though. My colds usually start with a sore throat. This just started with a nasty cough. I don't know which is worse, a nose that won't stop running, or being so stopped up your head feels like it's falling off. I'm kind of in the middle right now...popping the Cold-Eze lozenges, drinking some Vitamin C and I plan to get some rest tonight!

We didn't do anything for Super Bowl...we used to have a Super Bowl party every year, but the last few years I just don't get into it. I don't usually care about who's playing and the commercials aren't that great. Corby grilled some burgers and brats, and we just hung out at home. Kaleb went to a friend's house and Kaitlin got home from work about halftime. Here's one of those "stretch the arm - take your own" picture:
As you can see, Corby's banged-up head is healing. His echocardiogram came back normal. The "holter" monitor he wore for 24 hours malfunctioned, so he had to go back this Monday and get it put on again. It will be late next week before we get the results.

Check out this little pint of ice cream. Kaitlin and Corby shared it - notice the broken up Heath bar on top? Kaitlin's favorite way to eat vanilla ice cream. Looks yummy. I can't eat Heath bars because they tear up my teeth. This isn't really part of our eating healthier program, but since they shared I guess it's okay.

Got more depressing news at work today. Don't even want to talk about it. Suffice it to say I work in the struggling newspaper industry...

I hope you feel better soon!

I'm sorry there was more depressing news. Just what you didn't need when you feel so bad anyway.

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore

K-STATE WINS!

K-STATE beat KU! AWESOME! It was a tense game. Corby is a huge KU fan, and even having a son at K-State hasn't changed that. I am happy when any Kansas team does well; but I had to root for K-State tonight. If the Jayhawks had to lose, I'm glad it was to K-State. Michael Beasley is a great player, and my only concern is that he will leave after his freshman year and go pro. WAY TO GO CATS!
