18 Years Ago Today

18 years ago this morning, I was at St. Francis Hospital having twins. This morning I was at St. Francis Hospital again (more on that later). I remember it very clearly. Brandon was just shy of 2, and we called my mom and youngest brother Mike to meet us at the hospital. It was about 5:00am. Brandon was excited to be running free up and down the halls of the hospital while my brother chased him around. Shortly after 7:30am, Kaleb John Charles was born. 2 minutes later his twin sister Kaitlin Melody was born. They were 5 weeks early. Kaleb weighed 6 lbs., Kaitlin weighed 5 pounds 3 ounces. 8 LONG days later they came home, and the fun began! It's been fun ever since (for the most part). HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY KALEB AND KAITLIN! Dad and I are so proud of you and the wonderful young adults you have become! WE LOVE YOU!

As for today's trip to the hospital - I got a call around 9am from mom's nursing home. She had a very nasty cough and was more disoriented than usual. They had called her doctor and they recommended she be taken to the emergency room. Rather than have her transported by ambulance, I went and picked her up. Once we got to St. Francis, the wait was on. As all of you know who have experienced emergency room visits - it's mostly sit around and wait. After several hours of not much happening, they finally took her for a chest x-ray and did some blood work. She has a very mild case of pneumonia. They gave her a prescription and released her. She was adamant that she wanted to go to the twins birthday celebration that we were having. My family and best friend, Melody all met at Hometown Buffet to celebrate. We also celebrated my brother-in-law Mark's (January) birthday and my sister-in-law Sandy's St. Patrick's Day birthday.

As you can see, Mark doesn't like to have his picture taken...Here's Sandy...Kaleb...Kaitlin...
We were glad to have Brandon come home yesterday for a week + for spring break. We started out the afternoon by visiting Mom and going to her St. Patrick's Day party at the nursing home. Here she is playing one of the games...
After we got back home, the kids played basketball...Then we played Monopoly...Kaitlin was very excited to win and we had a lot of fun...Now - the latest Abby picture. She likes to sit under this lamp, presumably to warm up. However, as nice as it was today, I have no idea why she camped out there...
I'm TIRED! Corby helped out today with laundry, since I spent all morning and part of the afternoon at the hospital. Thanks honey!

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore
