Busy Day in Kakeland!

We took Kaleb's car to the shop this morning. His A/C wasn't working. Thank goodness it didn't end up being anything major - just needed some freon. No leaks in the system or anything. So now he's ready for summer.

After we dropped off the car, we went to Panera for breakfast. I love their everything bagels, and we rarely get a chance to eat there, since there isn't one close. We ended up buying a baker's dozen (13) since it was only a few more $ than buying 4. Since Kaleb was needing a computer desk, we ended up going to Office Depot and then Office Max, where we found him one on clearance. We brought the bagels home so Brandon could eat breakfast before heading to work, and then went to Heights. The school left a message on Friday that our "senior" had obligations to pay before they could receive their diploma. Since we didn't know which "senior" it was, they both went with me. Kaleb had apparently not paid the $20 for his photography class, and they said Kaitlin owed $13 for the AP Chemistry test. However, since she took the test last year, she wasn't scheduled to take it this year. Needless to say, we didn't have to pay for the test! Kaitlin put the desk together - with minimal help from Kaleb. She loves to put stuff together!

The rest of the day I've spent finishing laundry (still not done yet) and gathering items for the garage sale. It's not until June 6, but since this coming weekend is Memorial Day, and the following weekend we are going to KC, I figured I better get started.

Tonight we are anxiously awaiting the season finale of CSI Miami - one of our favorite shows.

Today's music has included Keith Urban's newest CD - Defying Gravity, as well as Green Day's latest CD, courtesy of Brandon.

Time for a "quote of the day": "Oh, the comfort - the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person - having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff & grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take & sift them & keep what is worth keeping & then with the breath of kindness, blow the rest away." -- Dinah Marie Mulock Craik (1866)

That is one of my favorite quotes, Linda! My friend, Lucy, did a calligraphy of that quote (or one similar to it) for me that hangs on the wall in my living room. It's a good one!

First Day of School

It's tradition at my house to take a "first day of school" picture. The kids get less and less thrilled every year, but I still do it. Here are the twins before they left for their first day of senior year: Kind of funny that they both wore gray - unplanned of course! I think Kaitlin is putting in her plug for the college she'd like to go to. They had a good day. Found out that at 1800 students, Heights is over their limit by 400 students!!! OMG! I'm not sure what the answer is, but it is WAY TOO CROWDED! I think the northeast side of town needs a new high school. Something needs to be done! Just finished my Nora Roberts book, and have started New Moon, the second book in Stephenie Meyer's vampire series. Kaitlin took Abby to the vet yesterday to get her last distemper shot and a rabies shot. The vet told her that she comes from a line of very strong / physically superior cats. I knew there was some reason that she climbs EVERYWHERE in the house, including u...
