Graduation / Flowers?

You might ask - why a title of Graduation / Flowers? Perhaps because 2009 graduates are like budding flowers - able to grow and blossom as much as they can.

Here we have the Heights mission statement - hanging in their auditorium:This is the best picture I could get of Kaleb & Kaitlin at their awards ceremony on Wednesday. Some day - perhaps by the time they graduate from college, I will have a great camera with an awesome telephoto lens! And with the beautiful weather from yesterday and today, our flowers are blooming...And...here's Cinnamon, newly shaved for summer.Have to tell a hilarious story about the animals. We got Cinnamon shaved last Sunday. After Corby brought her home, I was downstairs when the boys started howling, screaming and laughing their heads off. Apparently, Abby the kitty, took one look at Cinnamon and FREAKED out! She ran through the house, into our bedroom, and almost went through our screen (more on that later). She was absolutely petrified! It took Abby until Thursday before she would go anywhere near the dog. The first couple of days, she stayed in the basement whenever she heard Cinnamon come in.

Now - about the screen - either the dog or cats have torn up just about every screen we have. So, Corby went to Lowe's this week - and after investigating how to replace screen in a frame, went to work. We now have new screens on every window but one. The boys room isn't bad, and since it's above my flower bed, I don't want him climbing up on the ladder to get to it. It can wait until fall. But is sure is nice to be able to open all the windows, especially with this beautiful weather!

Today's music: I watched part of a concert from REO Speedwagon. They even did my favorite song "Time For Me To Fly"...they can still rock'n roll!

And a quote for today:

"Each side will continue to make its case to the public with passion and conviction. But surely we can do so without reducing those with differing views to caricature. Open hearts. Open minds. Fair-minded words." -- President Barack Obama, May 17, 2009

So funny about Cinnamon getting shaved! We have our cat shaved every summer because she gets so many mats in her fur. She doesn't look at us for about two weeks afterwards - Quinn says it is because she is naked so she's embarrassed!

yeah, Cinnamon isn't too happy for the first day or two, but it's so much better for her during the hot summer months.

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore
