What a week!

Other than the twins graduation on Tuesday, this has not been a good week.

On Tuesday afternoon, our outdoor cat, Sugar, who had been missing for 3 days, came home very ill. Kaitlin and I took her to the vet. She has a kidney stone and some kind of infection, and was extremely dehydrated. It's Friday evening now, and she is still at the vet. We are going to have to pull the plug soon, as the bill is getting pretty darn high. I honestly should have put her to sleep on Tuesday, instead of all the expense we are incurring, but I couldn't do that to Kaitlin on her graduation day. She would never have forgotten it.

Then, sometime late Wed. night or early yesterday morning, someone ran into Kaleb's car - he was parked in the street. With 5 vehicles, we can't all fit in the driveway! Anyway, it was a hit and run. He called the police, but there isn't much you can do when you don't know who hit it. It's not a huge dent, but it's right at the crack of the driver's side door. Corby was able to get the door open, and he'll be able to push the bumper back out a bit, but it is still damaged. I'm guessing the person who hit him didn't have any insurance, and since Kaleb only has liability - we won't be paying to get the damage repaired.

Today was EXTREMELY busy at work. The day before a 3-day holiday weekend is always crazy. Hope ended up leaving around 10:30 this morning, so I was running all day. Had to do FOUR papers, and then paginate all the classified sections. Even though I only worked 2 days this week, I feel like I've been "wrung through a wringer"!

We finally broke down and turned the A/C on tonight. I've been fighting turning it on, due to the high electric bills. But there wasn't much breeze, and it was pretty toasty in here. The kids are happy...

Kaitlin is fighting a bad cold and a bad sunburn. She washed her truck yesterday, and didn't think to put sunblock on. Poor thing!

Brandon started working at Dillons on Monday. He's back at the 21st & Maize Rd. store. They can't get him any closer to home, but at least he's working!

It will be a busy weekend. We have our usual errand running and visit with mom tomorrow, as well as a graduation party to attend for one of Kaleb's friends. Sunday we are having family over for a cookout, and to celebrate my sister Rhonda's birthday, and Brandon's birthday. He doesn't know yet if he has to work, so we might be celebrating his birthday without him!

Oh no - poor Sugar! And hit and run drivers are the worst. That's awful.

I woke up to no Internet this morning. My wireless router died. So I had to spend several hours buying a new one and installing it. Ugh!

How did we ever live without the internet? Glad you got everything back to normal. It's a pain tho!

Wish you were here so we could celebrate your birthday too. We'll be in KC next weekend. Taking the boys up for Rockfest, while Kaitlin and I will shop. Corby is staying home. We're also going to a Royals game on Sunday!

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore

K-STATE WINS!

K-STATE beat KU! AWESOME! It was a tense game. Corby is a huge KU fan, and even having a son at K-State hasn't changed that. I am happy when any Kansas team does well; but I had to root for K-State tonight. If the Jayhawks had to lose, I'm glad it was to K-State. Michael Beasley is a great player, and my only concern is that he will leave after his freshman year and go pro. WAY TO GO CATS!
