Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to Corby - our kids are so lucky to have such a great dad! They are sure going to miss his cooking and car knowledge when they head to Manhattan!

It's HOT! HUMID! NASTY! But at least our tomato plants are doing well.Abby & Muffin have been hanging out in strange places...not sure why they were laying on this afghan. They knocked it off a basket under my drafting table.Abby likes to climb behind the blind in the window on the south side of the basement. I rarely open that blind. I've caught her climbing between the slats. Hopefully she won't get stuck and choke herself.

We've been playing the computer / monitor / TV shuffle today. Kaleb built a new computer for school, so we had an extra hard drive. We took the LCD TV out of our bedroom and made it the monitor for my computer - then took my old monitor and put it on Kaleb's old hard drive so Corby will have a computer!!!! Can you believe it? I'm finally getting him into the technology world!!!! He knows how to surf the net a bit, but really doesn't spend ANY time on the computer at all, so now we'll be able to e-mail each other across the basement - HA! I might even get him on Facebook! The kids have played the TV shuffle, so we actually got our old TV back from Kaitlin, so we put it back in the bedroom.

Corby insists on cooking today - even though it's Father's Day. He's going to make chicken & rice soup, which might sound too hot for a hot day - but his soup is awesome - it doesn't make any difference if it's hot outside or not! His birthday is tomorrow. Not sure yet if we're taking him out to eat or to a movie - doubt we'll do both. We all want to see "The Proposal" with Sandra Bullock, so we'll probably go see it.

Today's music is random - some Melissa Etheridge, Elton John, Michael W. Smith, Captain & Tennille - have it set on shuffle, so I'm listening to all sorts of stuff!

I like this W.C. Fields quote: "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. There's no use being a damn fool about it."

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore

K-STATE WINS!

K-STATE beat KU! AWESOME! It was a tense game. Corby is a huge KU fan, and even having a son at K-State hasn't changed that. I am happy when any Kansas team does well; but I had to root for K-State tonight. If the Jayhawks had to lose, I'm glad it was to K-State. Michael Beasley is a great player, and my only concern is that he will leave after his freshman year and go pro. WAY TO GO CATS!
