Baby Girl

Baby girl just left to head back to Manhattan, and my tears are flowing. I almost think it was harder to say goodbye from home than when we left Manhattan last week. She came home Thursday afternoon, after being bored with her brothers and not having anything to do. Her friends don't arrive in Manhattan until around the 22nd - since they are all living in the dorms. She hasn't gotten a job yet, so doesn't really have much to do. The boys play a LOT of video games, and she seems lost. I know this is a rite of passage - and everything will be fine. Once she gets a job & classes start, she'll be so busy she won't have much time to think of home.

I think back to my childhood. The only one of my 4 siblings to go to college was my oldest brother, but he attended WSU, so didn't leave home. However, he did join the Air Force after college (where he was in ROTC), so he left home in his early 20's and didn't return home until he'd spent 20 years in the Air Force. He and his family lived in a lot of different places - Minot, ND; Colorado Springs, CO; Sunset (outside Salt Lake City) Utah; Athens, Greece, and Dayton, OH. I think I've hit all their locations over 20 years. I know we missed him those 20 years - and I visited every one of his homes except for Dayton. All kids grow up and move away from home. I'm not ready, but they are. It doesn't mean I will miss them any less, but they have to spread their wings and fly. That's what we teach them. That's the circle of life. I miss you, Kaitlin, Kaleb and Brandon. I will always love you, and I'll always be here for you. So will dad! We want you to fly with the eagles and be happy in whatever you choose to do in life! WE LOVE YOU ALL!

you're right Lenore! Dang, I knew I was missing somewhere! And that was my favorite place too (besides Athens) - since it meant we got to go to San Francisco!

Linda, I understand how you feel. April was home from England for a week. I was so bummed out after taking her to McConnell to catch her flight that I came home and just sat all afternoon.

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair

Terrible Day

I'm not going to go into a lot of detail here, but suffice it to say that I had a TERRIBLE day at work! I made a huge mistake costing the company some revenue, and I feel awful! I certainly didn't need anyone to get on my butt, because I was kicking myself for the better part of the day. I know, I know, I'm human, but this was a BIG human mistake! I hate to admit that I'm human! HATE TO MAKE MISTAKES - ESPECIALLY BIG ONES! Okay, that's it. I'm having a margarita and trying to relax now. I'm done with being human for a while!
