Wonderful Weekend

We were so excited to have Kaitlin, and her friend Lydia, home for the weekend. Lydia is from a small town outside of Kansas City, and had never been to Wichita. Well, now she has! Not that it's all that exciting, but...

The girls arrived home around 6:45pm Thursday. They had to make a stop at the local Sprint store so Lydia could buy a new phone because hers died. We had fun visiting all evening. Friday, the girls came down to the Eagle at lunchtime. We had to run by the school district's office so Kaitlin could order her transcript to be sent to Wichita State. Yes, my little girl is going to be a WICHITA STATE SHOCKER in the fall! And I will be EXTREMELY glad to have her home! We visited my little sister Marilyn and then grabbed a bite to eat. The girls went and saw "Valentine's Day" that afternoon, and then I met them at Red Robin for dinner. Here's Kaitlin as we were checking out how easy it might be to "filch" a bottle of liquor from the bar right behind us.

Corby went with our neighbor Paul to the Cotillion to see Gabriel Iglacious (sp?), a comedian. Kaleb had gotten tickets for Corby for Christmas, with the intention of coming home and going with his dad to the show. Then he ended up having a Physics test late Friday afternoon, so he wasn't able to come home. So Corby and Paul had a "guys night out" while Kaitlin, Lydia and I had a "girls night out". We had a great time. That night we watched "The Breakfast Club", one of my favorite movies. Lydia really likes it too, so we convinced Kaitlin to watch it. She wasn't impressed, said it was boring. Oh well...

Yesterday morning, after our visit with mom, we went to the zoo. It was a little chilly, but the sun was shining and we had a lot of fun! Here are some pics from our outing:

Last night we took the girls out to Olive Garden for dinner. They both love that restaurant, and there isn't one in Manhattan. They are building one, but Kaitlin doesn't know if it will open before she heads home mid-May or not. After our dinner, the girls went "flip-flop" wild at Old Navy. At $2.50 a pair, they are a bargain. I bought 2 pair, and the girls each bought 4 pairs! Last night we just hung around and visited...

Corby fixed pancakes and sausage for breakfast, and then the girls did some homework. In the meantime, while doing laundry, I did the kids taxes and their FAFSA (Student Aid) applications for 2010-2011 classes. I hope they get a good amount of scholarships and grants. I wanted to hit the March 1 - early bird deadline - because it gives them a better change of getting financial aid.

The girls left after a mid-afternoon dinner. Corby grilled pork chops, and we had mashed potatoes, corn and biscuits. Yummy!

All in all, it was a great weekend and I'm excited because all three kids will be home in a few weeks. Spring break is the week of March 15, which is the twins birthday.

Didn't show this to Mom as she would have been mad that you didn't take her, she has been talking about the zoo every week. Next time you better take her.

It was too cool to take mom, but hopefully when it warms up some we will take her. She won't be able to walk the whole way, but maybe we can rent a wheelchair for her.

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair

Terrible Day

I'm not going to go into a lot of detail here, but suffice it to say that I had a TERRIBLE day at work! I made a huge mistake costing the company some revenue, and I feel awful! I certainly didn't need anyone to get on my butt, because I was kicking myself for the better part of the day. I know, I know, I'm human, but this was a BIG human mistake! I hate to admit that I'm human! HATE TO MAKE MISTAKES - ESPECIALLY BIG ONES! Okay, that's it. I'm having a margarita and trying to relax now. I'm done with being human for a while!
