Sad News

Sad news this evening...my Uncle Louie passed away this afternoon. I have many great memories of him, my Aunt Coney (who passed away the same year as my dad-1994) and my cousins: Marsha, Diana, June, Chris and Robert. When we were kids, the highlight of our summer was when our St. Louis relatives would visit. When my sister, Rhonda and I were teens, there were several summers that we went back to St. Louis with them for a visit. Uncle Louie was a wonderful man. He was very laid-back and nothing us kids did ever got him riled up. His career was as a graphic artist, but he was an awesome artist and I am proud to have one of his paintings hanging in my basement. Up until his health, and my mom's health, got bad a few years ago, we got together with our St. Louis family every summer for a reunion. About 5 years ago, Uncle Louie gave me and my siblings one of his paintings. Needless to say, mine is cherished and very special to me.

My brother Terry and I are planning to go to his funeral, but we are waiting to hear tomorrow the exact date and time.

Uncle Louie - you will be greatly missed. Please say HI to Dad, Aunt Coney, Uncle Gerald and Grandma and Grandpa. WE LOVE YOU! RIP!

My dad called me last night and told me he wasn't doing well. Sorry to hear of his passing. How is grandma taking it? Can she go with you to the funeral?

First Day of School

It's tradition at my house to take a "first day of school" picture. The kids get less and less thrilled every year, but I still do it. Here are the twins before they left for their first day of senior year: Kind of funny that they both wore gray - unplanned of course! I think Kaitlin is putting in her plug for the college she'd like to go to. They had a good day. Found out that at 1800 students, Heights is over their limit by 400 students!!! OMG! I'm not sure what the answer is, but it is WAY TOO CROWDED! I think the northeast side of town needs a new high school. Something needs to be done! Just finished my Nora Roberts book, and have started New Moon, the second book in Stephenie Meyer's vampire series. Kaitlin took Abby to the vet yesterday to get her last distemper shot and a rabies shot. The vet told her that she comes from a line of very strong / physically superior cats. I knew there was some reason that she climbs EVERYWHERE in the house, including u...
