End of June Already?

I can't believe it's already the end of June! Seems like the kids were just getting out of school for the summer, and now it's only 7 weeks until Brandon heads off to K-State and just less than that before the twins head back to school. Time sure has a way of slipping away from us!

Nothing major to report. Corby and the kids made it home from Oklahoma around 2:30 Sunday afternoon. They had a good visit with Charles; who is now thinking about moving back to Kansas! He's got friends from his trucking days who live in El Dorado and Leon, and there isn't much keeping him in Oklahoma. We hope he does decide to move up here. I think it would be good for him.

The twins had their 3-hour night driving session last night. Corby and I made good use of the time while they were driving - we went to the Palace and saw WILD HOGS with John Travolta, Tim Allen, Martin Lawrence and William Macy. It was SOOOOO funny! The kids had seen it when it first came out, and they really enjoyed it too. We hadn't been to the Palace in a long time. It only costs $2.50 to see a movie there, so we only spent $5!!!

I went to mom's tonight on my way home. She seems to be doing okay, but had some questions about her toilet and whether it was working properly (IT IS!). For some reason the toilet is one of her "stress" items, and she tends to imagine problems with it when there is absolutely nothing wrong! I fixed her a frozen meatloaf dinner, got her mail, set out her pills, and visited a bit.

Had a crown fall off today, so I called the dentist and they are getting me in at 9am tomorrow. Brandon will have to take the twins to and from driver's ed tomorrow.

I just finished "Laced" by Carol Higgins Clark. It's a Regan Reilly mystery, but I don't think it's one of her better books. I am getting ready to start "Revenge of Innocents" by Nancy Taylor Rosenberg. I've read most (if not all) of her books, and enjoy them.

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore
