NEW FRIDGE

yep - we got our new fridge - FINALLY! We went 8 days without a refrigerator. Ever lived out of a cooler? Not much fun! We didn't really want to get a side-by-side one again, but we did want an ice maker. We could not find a regular fridge with a filter on it's ice maker except for the side-by-side's. With Park City's nasty water, we knew we had to have a filter. We could have opted for a whole house filtering system, but couldn't really afford one. This fridge wasn't much more expensive than the standard ones. Corby wanted black, to match the dishwasher and the black glass on the stove. I have to admit it looks pretty cool in the red kitchen!

Watch out Wichita/Park City - Kaleb and Kaitlin are on the loose! Yes, they are on the roads driving! I took them out to the Greyhound Park parking lot last night (very few people there) and Kaitlin practiced parking, while Kaleb practiced turning corners.

Kaitlin got VERY exciting news yesterday. Her favorite group, Rascal Flatts, is going to be in Oklahoma City on July 26th. Needless to say - it's another girls road trip! I've already booked the Courtyard by Marriott next to the Ford Center, where they will be performing. That way we can just walk to the concert! No traffic problems! It's well worth it!

Oooh, Corby just told me that Keith Urban might be coming to Wichita! I hope so! I've recently become a big fan! His new CD is awesome.

Still reading "Heart of the Night" by Barbara Delinsky. I should finish it tonight.

Current music: Toby Keith's new CD - Big Dog Daddy. I'm not big on the song "High Maintenance Woman" that's been out for a while, but the rest of the CD is really good.

Quote for the day:
"Be gentle with yourself
You are a child of the universe
No less than the trees and the stars
You have a right to be here..."
from "Desiderata"

Hey I will actually be in Wichita on July 26th (getting in the 25th late). Maybe I should come with you to OKC - sounds like fun :)

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore
