Joe Don

Joe Don Rooney - from Rascal Flatts

Yesterday was quite a day! We got to the hotel in OKC around 3pm. The information Kaitlin had from the fan club said she could pick up her meet & greet pass and tickets at 4pm. We went over to the Ford Center (just across the street from the hotel) and found out that the pass & tickets wouldn't be available until 5pm. While we were waiting, we decided to walk down to Toby Keith's restaurant - I Love This Bar & Grill - in Bricktown. Kaleb treated us to an early dinner. The food was good (not great), the service was a bit lacking, but the restaurant itself was fairly impressive. Lots of Toby memorabilia - the front of a tour bus hanging in the wall, a painted picture of Toby with his American flag guitar, an American Flag motorcycle; and the seats for the people waiting to be seated were tailgates to pickup trucks. Pretty cool. It was only a few blocks from the hotel. We went back to the hotel, freshened up, and then picked up Kaitlin's pass & tickets. Of course, then we had to wait almost an hour in the heat for them to open the doors. The show was at 8, and last year they opened the doors at 6:30, but for some reason they decided to make everyone sweat. Jason Aldean was the opening act. Kaitlin missed his first 2 songs, as that was when she got to meet the guys in the band. She had promised herself that she was going to hug them this time (she was too shy the last time she had passes here in Wichita) - and she followed through on that promise. They all gave her hugs, and she was very, very excited by the time she got back to her seat! They put on a great show, and did a wide variety of their hits, and some random songs from their CD's. I think this was the best of the shows I personally have seen. Their stage setup was wonderful, and our seats were in the 5th row front & center! Kaleb hung out at the hotel while we were at the concert. We made it back to Wichita around 1:30 this afternoon.

Tomorrow we head over to mom's apartment to pack things up. I put an ad in the paper starting today to try to sell her furniture. We have one lady coming at noon tomorrow to look at most of the items we're selling. Hopefully she'll buy all of it!!!! It will be a busy weekend.

Kaleb finished the latest Harry Potter book yesterday, so Brandon is now reading it. He wants to read it before he heads off to K-State.

Today's quote from "In My Daughter's Eyes" by Martina McBride
In my daughter's eyes everyone is equal
Darkness turns to light and the
world is at peace
This miracle God gave to me gives me
strength when I am weak
I find reason to believe
In my daughter's eyes

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore
