Antiques?

I spent part of the day unpacking items we are storing after clearing out mom's apartment. Getting ready for the garage sale next Saturday. Here is a clown cookie jar that a friend of mom's gave her in 1949. I know because she wrote that information on the bottom. I did some searching on the internet, and found that this cookie jar is worth $150-$200. Needless to say, I will not sell it at the garage sale. However, if any of you know someone who collects old cookie jars, let me know!

In response to an earlier post, Heather put first dibs on our chimenea (sp?). Here's a picture Heather.

Corby is in seventh heaven tonight! He's been a Cubs fan forever. They won today, and the Milwaukee Brewers lost, so that puts the Cubs 3 1/2 games ahead of the Brewers in the race for the division title. GO CUBS! And then those Kansas City Chiefs decided they'd win a game today too! It was a good day for sports in our house!

Kaitlin is interested in a Dodge Ram truck that a neighbor is selling. We kind of have an inside "scoop" on the truck because he told us what the dealer offered him as a trade-in, what he wanted for it, and I think we can offer him somewhere in between and possibly get it. However, it's a gas guzzler, so I'm making Kaitlin think long and hard about it. At least school and work are both less than 2 miles away, but still.........

Last, but not least today, here's a picture of our dog, Cinnamon, overlooking HER neighborhood. She loves to stand on the picnic table on the deck, and look out over all the other yards around us. Especially since there are dogs in just about every back yard. Our neighbors next door have a red lab named Sadie. Just recently they got two black and white ShihTzu puppies - named Missy and Oreo. They are adorable! We'd love to get Cinnamon a playmate. We've been out to the Humane Society a few times, as well as watching their website, but so far haven't found one we think would be compatible. Besides, we have enough animals right now anyway!

And the quote for Sunday, 9/23/07 is: "There is a wonderful mythical law of nature that the three things we crave most in life - happiness, freedom and peace of mind - are always attained by giving them to someone else."

Kaitlin hates clowns, so she is scared of it too!

by the way, I have a Longaberger basket from mom's that I'm keeping for you. It was your mom's. I need to look at the date on the bottom again, but I think it was an early 80's basket.

Love the chimenea. I've been wanting one for a really long time. Everytime I think I'll buy one, the money is used for something else. ;o(

don't know if my dad told you or not, but i won't be home at christmas this year.
instead i will be there over Veteren's Day. So let's plan on getting together!

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore
