No Garage Sale After All!

I've changed my mind (as 50-year-old menopausal women often do!) and am NOT going to have a garage sale this weekend. I decided that we really don't have that much stuff left from mom's to sell, so will hold onto it until the spring. The biggest item we have is the lift recliner, and I'll probably just put an ad in the paper this weekend.

The twins have both found cars, or in Kaitlin's case - a truck! She is buying our neighbor's '98 Dodge Ram truck. It IS a gas hog, but she is getting it for a good price; and since she works 1 mile from home, and school is less than 2 miles from home, she's decided she can afford the gas. She has wanted a truck for as long as I can remember. She won't be able to get it for about a week and a half, as the neighbor needs it until he goes to Texas to pick up his new truck. Kaleb found a 97 Chevy Cavalier, and once the dealer puts in a new battery and fixes the A/C, he'll buy it. Lots going on in our household right now!

Talked to Brandon last night. School is going well, and so is his job at Dillons. He'll be home the weekend of Oct. 6th, as we are going to Oklahoma to visit Grandpa Charles.

Today was RASCAL FLATTS day! Their latest CD arrived in stores today, so needless to say, we had to take Kaitlin to Target to get it. She also needed a white dress shirt for Concert Choir at school, so at least we "killed two birds with one stone!" Also had to take Kaleb to Game Stop to get the latest HALO video game. It arrived in stores today too!

With the cool weather tonight (and the full moon) Corby and Kaitlin finished the evening off with a fire in the fire pit.
And of course, when there's a fire in the pit, there are SMORES!
The new TV season is off and running. So far we've watched Shark (one of my favorites from last year), Dancing With the Stars - only because I've been an Osmond fan for 40 years and I'm rooting for Marie Osmond, CSI Miami, and tonight we watched CANE, the new CBS show with Jimmy Smits. Looks like it's gonna be a good one!

Today's quote, from "Desiderata":
"Be gentle with yourself
You are a child of the universe
No less than the trees and the stars
You have a right to be here."

nope, you can still have it. I can bring it to work. I'll let you know for sure that there are no cracks as soon as we empty it...

I love that quote from Desiderata! When I graduated from 8th grade, we each got a poster (there were only five of us graduating) with that poem on it. And it's remained one of my favorites.

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore
