Garth Mania

First of all, let me say that Garth still has it! He is still the consummate entertainer!

Our seats were way up in the nosebleed section, but hey, I'm not complaining. I didn't think I was going to get to see Garth, so we were just excited to go. However, the design of the Sprint Center leaves a lot to be desired as far as I'm concerned - at least the upper level. We were on the aisle in a row of 15 seats, and there was no exit on the other side. Now I'm all for having a great time at a concert, but when you have 8 twenty-somethings going in and out of your row about 20 times for beer (and I'm not exaggerating), it was a bit excessive. I'm just trying to figure out how these folks could afford it! Beers were $7 and $9! As for the seating, there is very little space between rows, and were were stepped on, tripped on and trampled on for about 5 hours! Whoever designed cup holders to go on the back of the seats, right on the floor, needs to have their heads examined. Okay, enough about the venue. Trisha started off the night with a great set, albeit short. She had a bad cold, and sounded like a frog when she talked. She managed to get through 4 songs before her voice gave out. The wait between her and Garth was a bit excessive (45 minutes), but I think it was because they wanted to sell more beer. It sure wasn't spent setting up the stage, as that was done in about 15 minutes. Or maybe it was just building up the A-N-T-I-C-I-P-A-T-I-O-N! From the minute Garth hit the stage, until two hours later when it was over; it was non-stop singing and partying! Garth still knows how to work the crowd. GREAT FUN. Here are a couple of pics:

Too bad I don't have a good zoom lens. This is as good as it gets.

Great concert! On a scale of 0-4, I would rate it a 4+++++. Thanks for the memories, Garth, and for helping us remember our "Friends in Low Places"!

It sounds like you had a great time -- cup holders notwithstanding!

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore
