Brandon's sick

I guess I was meant to pee at 4am this morning. When I got up, I heard a beeping noise coming from the kitchen. It was my cell phone. Someone had sent me a text in the middle of the night! I quickly checked, and it was from Brandon, sent at 3:49am. He had been up coughing all night and wondered if I thought he should call in sick to work. I don't know why he thought I would get this middle-of-the-night text message, as I usually do not take my cell phone to bed with me. But like I said, I guess I was meant to get it. Anyway, I texted him back and asked him if he had a fever. If so, I thought he should stay home from work. After a couple more texts, he told me he called in sick, and I told him I would call him late this morning. I didn't sleep well after those messages. I know he's 18, almost 19, but you still worry about your kids, you know? Anyway, when I called him back he said Dillons had called him back and said he would need a doctor's note to come back to work. Come to find out, they had him confused with another Brandon, who had already been sick 2 days. I guess after 3 missed days they require a doctor's note. I told Brandon to go to Walmart and get some Robitussin cough suppressant and start taking it right away. He works tomorrow afternoon, so hopefully he will feel better by then. No matter how independent your kid wants to be - who do they call when they are sick or need something - YEP - MOM!

His roommate, Brady, is in town this weekend. He called the twins last night to see if they wanted to go "late" bowling with him. They all went to Northrock at 10:30pm and bowled for 2 1/2 hours. They can bowl from 10pm-1am for $11, which includes the shoes. Of course, mom here had to wait up for them. They got home around 1:15am. Needless to say, I didn't get much sleep last night. At least not much GOOD sleep!

I hope you got better sleep last night! I just realized that the cell phone that you posted says "hey idiot" on the screen... lol... i don't know if you realized that or not. I sure didn't get any sleep last night, Jesse will be steping off the plane in less than 2 hours!

You know I'm almost 39 and I still want to talk to my Mom when I'm sick, too.

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore
