The Osmonds on PBS

I've never hidden my obsession with the Osmonds. Donny and his oldest performing brother, Alan, were my favorites. While "flipping" channels tonight around 7pm, Corby came across the Osmonds 50th Anniversary concert in Las Vegas on PBS. It was filmed last August. Can you believe the oldest brothers have been performing for 50 years? I can tell you exactly how old every Osmond brother is. They are all 2 years apart, Alan is 58, Wayne is 56, Merrill is 54, Jay is 52 and Donny is a year younger than me. He turned 50 in December. (Guess that tells everybody how old I am, huh?). Marie is 48, and oops, I'm not sure how old "baby" Jimmy is.
I was jamming to all those 70's songs: Double Lovin', One Bad Apple, Puppy Love, Down by the Lazy River, Yo-Yo, Love Me For a Reason, Crazy Horses, The Proud One, Let Me In, and the very best harmony ever - He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother! What a performance! Alan has MS now, so doesn't perform much, but he was on the show. Brought back a TON of memories. The Osmonds were the first concert I ever went to. It was at Henry Levitt Arena - and I was 13! How many of you remember your first concert? Ah......sweet!

I think I've told you this already, but my first concert was Motley Crue "Shout at the Devil" tour at SEVEN YEARS OLD. My mom let my sister take me. I know, crazy huh? I turned out pretty well, I THINK!

My first concert was when I was 17 in 1975 with Paul (my husband of 33 years) and we saw STYX and BTO. I had never been out much and was amazed at all the people at Henry Levitt Arena. I remember asking Paul, who was 20 at the time and much more worldly than me, what at awful smell was. He whisper in my ear that the people behind us were smoking pot. I remember saying "don't they know that's against the law." Of course I just found out last year was a doobie is.

Peggy, I believe I was at the same Styx concert. Actually there was a lot of pot smoking at concerts in those days. I'd get high from just being near people smoking!

Debbie, I can't believe the Osmonds were your first concert too, and you were also 13! Small world, huh?

K-STATE WINS!

K-STATE beat KU! AWESOME! It was a tense game. Corby is a huge KU fan, and even having a son at K-State hasn't changed that. I am happy when any Kansas team does well; but I had to root for K-State tonight. If the Jayhawks had to lose, I'm glad it was to K-State. Michael Beasley is a great player, and my only concern is that he will leave after his freshman year and go pro. WAY TO GO CATS!

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore
