Rainy Sunday

Well, at least we had a beautiful, but windy Saturday! We even slept with the upstairs windows open last night. Now it's rainy, windy, cold and they're talking snow after midnight. What's up with our weather this winter? I can't remember a winter in recent history that's been so snow/sleet/ice-filled. I know we haven't had a blizzard, and we haven't really had a ton of snow, it's just that it's been so often, I'm sick of it. I don't mind cold weather, it's the rest of it I could do without. Brandon left about 30 minutes ago. I hope he doesn't encounter any slick roads on the way back to Manhattan.

Looks like we're going to have to take Cinnamon to the vet.
I think she has an ear infection. She had one about 6 months ago, and her symptoms are the same. We are going to try to get her in tomorrow if we can get an appointment after the twins get home from school. They are both off work and could take her.

I visited Rhonda in the hospital this morning before going to work (more on that later). Her blood pressure is a bit high, and now her blood sugar is high - so they are trying her on some new medication. They also did a chest x-ray - they are trying to find out if she has sleep apnea. They are pretty sure she does, but they want to do the overnight sleep test on her to find out for sure. She'll be sleeping with one of those C-PAC (sp?) machines tonight. After I left the hospital, I went to work for a couple of hours. We are cutting down the width of our newspaper. It has been a major undertaking for our department, mainly the pressroom. It's taken the coordination of news, advertising and operations to make it happen. I had to go in today to change the templates on our layout system, and then test sending the pages to news. Our first several tries were unsuccessful, but after one of our Tech folks made some changes on the news side, we were successful! Look for a smaller-width paper on Tuesday!

Corby fixed a nice dinner today. We ate around 3 so we could all eat as a family. We had turkey breast, stuffing, green beans and homemade biscuits. Yummy! In between hospital visits and work, I'm trying to get laundry and some cleaning done. There's always something needing to be done, isn't there?

And our quote for today: "Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see." -- John H. Whitehead

Mmmm dinner sounds yummy! We have to take Kate to the ENT tomorrow - maybe her and Cinnamon can get a 2-4-1!

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore
