The quote will come at the end of this post...
It's been a busy few days. The days before a holiday are always busy when you work at a newspaper. It was especially hectic since I'm by myself while my assistant is out due to surgery. But, I made it through, and Corby and I went to a friend's house last night. We were supposed to have a bonfire, but it was a tad bit too windy (I AM SO SICK OF THE WIND!). We enjoyed meeting some other friends of theirs who are in town from Savannah.
Today was a typical errand-running Saturday for us (haven't I said that before?). Anyway, it started out with a quick trip to Leeker's to mail the latest basket I sold on E-Bay. We went and visited mom. While we were there, I got a frantic phone call from a classified salesperson at work. To make a long story short - suffice it to say I had to make a quick dash to work and get an ad in tomorrow's paper. I was happy to do it because it should have run today, but due to unknown reasons wasn't scheduled. Oh well, hopefully we appeased the advertiser by getting it in the A section tomorrow! Corby went down to work with me (isn't he sweet?) and the kids went on over to my sister's and did some things for her. We met back up over there with lunch and had a good visit. I had some shopping to do at Dillons, so we went to the one at 21st & Maize. That's where Brandon will start work on Tuesday. He was able to transfer from his store in Manhattan, but it took them over a week to get him on the schedule. At least he got 40 hours! He works 8-5 Tues.-Sat. this coming week. We don't know if that will be his regular schedule, or if it will vary, but he does want to work 40 hours a week. We also made a trip to Leeker's and finished our grocery shopping there.
Brandon's friend Owen is spending the night. They've been friends for a long time (since 5th grade I think). I am taking both of them and Kaleb to KC in a few weeks for Rockfest. Kaitlin and I are going to shop while they attend the all-day concert.
Corby is watching the Cubs tonight (and being grumpy as usual when he watches sports) and occasionally flipping to the Celtics game. I have been printing a bunch of pictures so I can scrapbook the next couple of days, and moving a bunch of pictures onto flash drives so I can get them off my computer.
Okay - here's an AWESOME quote (actually a paragraph) from ROBERT F. KENNEDY: "It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance."
