Drive In

Corby, Kaitlin and I are headed to the drive-in tonight to see Kung Fu Panda. (The boys are going to the Warren to see The Happening). I'm looking forward to the drive-in. Haven't been in a couple of years. I'm dating myself here, but when I was a kid and lived in S. Wichita - on S. Main near Pawnee - there was the Pawnee Drive-In at the corner of Broadway and Pawnee, where Walmart sits now. We had great times at that drive-in - as well as getting to watch all the fireworks on the 4th of July. We'd have neighborhood get-togethers and have ice-cold watermelon while watching free fireworks! I don't know about the rest of you, but we barely know most of our neighbors now. Outside of our friends Paul & Tokeah, who live across the street, the rest of our neighbors avoid speaking to us, keep to themselves, and generally are NO FUN! What about the rest of you? Do you know all your neighbors? Are you friends with them? Maybe there is something wrong with me and Corby! Nah!!!!!!!!!!! Gotta be their fault. They're missing out on some major coolness here!

My current book: Married Lovers by Jackie Collins. Yes, I know she writes trashy sex novels, but hey, you have to read something fun every now and then! I'm about a third of the way through the book, and it's definitely a typical Jackie Collins book. I bought a dozen books at the book sale at work on Wednesday. I've also got 3 books that my niece won (and had sent to me) that I need to read before she comes in a few weeks. I checked out 2 books from the library today. Am I on a reading binge or what?

I'm also enjoying some new music - also picked up at the book sale. Hey, when you can get CD's for $1, and they are someone you know, what the heck! 4 of the 5 are new country CD's by Mark Chestnutt, Neal McCoy, Steve Azar (he's a hottie) and Lady Antebellum. I also picked up the latest CD by Loverboy. Yes, that's Loverboy - from the 80's. It's actually a pretty good CD. Kaleb picked up Montgomery Gentry's latest CD at Best Buy the other day, so I'm enjoying that one too! And my 2 latest buys from Amazon: Hope and Glory by Heart's Ann Wilson, and Songs of Mass Destruction by Annie Lennox (of the 80's Eurythmics) - both excellent!!!

GO CELTICS! They are ahead of the (mucho) despised L.A. Lakers 3-1 in the finals of the NBA Championship. My brother Mike is happy, but will be happier if - no WHEN! - they win it all!

And I'll end today's post with a quote: "Dreams are renewable. No matter what our age or condition, there are still untapped possibilities within us and new beauty waiting to be born." -- Dr. Dale Turner

K-STATE WINS!

K-STATE beat KU! AWESOME! It was a tense game. Corby is a huge KU fan, and even having a son at K-State hasn't changed that. I am happy when any Kansas team does well; but I had to root for K-State tonight. If the Jayhawks had to lose, I'm glad it was to K-State. Michael Beasley is a great player, and my only concern is that he will leave after his freshman year and go pro. WAY TO GO CATS!

Terrible Day

I'm not going to go into a lot of detail here, but suffice it to say that I had a TERRIBLE day at work! I made a huge mistake costing the company some revenue, and I feel awful! I certainly didn't need anyone to get on my butt, because I was kicking myself for the better part of the day. I know, I know, I'm human, but this was a BIG human mistake! I hate to admit that I'm human! HATE TO MAKE MISTAKES - ESPECIALLY BIG ONES! Okay, that's it. I'm having a margarita and trying to relax now. I'm done with being human for a while!
