Goin' to Kansas City, Kansas City Here We Come

This has been a weird week. Kaitlin and I had originally planned to go to Kansas City this weekend to take Brandon, Owen (Brandon's friend) and Kaleb to Rockfest. Then Brandon found out he couldn't get off work because too many people were off and he didn't ask in time. So - I cancelled the hotel and cancelled the rental car (don't have a car big enough for all 5 of us since we all have small vehicles now). Corby and the twins made plans to go camping, since they had already asked off for work. I put feelers out everywhere to try to sell their tickets. THEN - I got a text message from Brandon around 11 this morning saying he managed to get the day off - SO - the trip is back on. Of course, that meant trying to find another hotel. Couldn't find one cheaper than $150 in the downtown area (where the concert is), so we're staying in Overland Park. I did manage to get a better deal on the rental car though. ON - OFF - ON! What a roller coaster week! Of course, now Corby doesn't get to go camping. Guess they'll have to find another weekend to go. I know, I'll leave some laundry for him so he doesn't get too bored!

And yes - today - we have VEHICLE TROUBLE! I drove Kaitlin's truck to work today since my air conditioning still isn't fixed. She drove my car to Target at K-96 and Greenwich Rd. this afternoon, and when she went to leave, the car was not drivable. It would go into "drive" but would just shake ferociously and not move. She had to spend about an hour at Target until Corby could get out there (I had to work late today). He's not sure what's wrong with it - transmission problems or CV joints. We will have it towed to the shop in the morning and then wait for the GRIM news. So - now we will be playing the car shuffle. If Corby and I worked similar hours we could carpool, but we don't, especially since this is my "late" week. So, the twins are going to have to carpool themselves to Leeker's - since they don't work the same schedule this could get interesting. Brandon is working 11-8 the next few days - so he's not much help. We'll figure something out. It is always something with cars!

And the quote for today: "The man who radiates good cheer, who makes life happier wherever he meets it, is always a man of vision and faith." -- Ella Wheeler Wilcox

I so glad he gets to use his tickets.
BTW - I had a hit on the tickets this morning. I told them they are being used. Sorry Charlie

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore
