Sophomore Countdown is On!

Those of you who have read my blog for a year - and I know there are one or two of you - know how hard it was to see Brandon leave for college last fall. Well, we're about to send him off for his second year at K-State. It will be easier this year - but I'm still going to miss him. We head to Manhattan on Saturday. I've been busy shopping the last couple of weeks trying to get everything he needs for his apartment (no dorm living this year). I think we're pretty set. Now - the most important thing - pray that it doesn't rain on Saturday! We'll be loading up Kaitlin's truck Saturday morning. He has an appointment to check into his apartment at 1:15. Brady, his friend and former dorm roommate, will be heading up the same day. His other roommate, Dom, is from St. Paul, and they aren't sure when he will be arriving. Dang, the summer went fast!

I finished reading Twilight a couple of days ago. Loved it! I haven't read a vampire book in years. Now I have to pick up the second book in the series.

I don't think I've posted this quote before: "Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world." -- Harriet Tubman

I can't imagine sending my babies off to college! I know it will be here before I know it though. It has been rough enough knowing that my stepson is floating around the world in the navy...such a strange feeling. Love the pic!

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair

K-STATE WINS!

K-STATE beat KU! AWESOME! It was a tense game. Corby is a huge KU fan, and even having a son at K-State hasn't changed that. I am happy when any Kansas team does well; but I had to root for K-State tonight. If the Jayhawks had to lose, I'm glad it was to K-State. Michael Beasley is a great player, and my only concern is that he will leave after his freshman year and go pro. WAY TO GO CATS!
