3562

I've reached 3562 visitors to my blog! Not too bad for a boring blog from the land of Oz! I'm sure most of those visitors are family and a few friends, but still...my goal is 5,000 by October. So those of you out there reading my blog (and I know there are least 2 or 3 of you), step it up! Visit 3 or 4 times a day, even if I don't update! It will still update my visitor numbers! Just joking! I know I need to have a decent post with pictures for you all to visit me. I'll try to do better. Life has just been very hectic lately. And here's why...

I've been working for the last 3-4 weeks on getting mom on Medicaid for the nursing home. Her money is very close to being gone, and it has been the biggest hassle I've ever faced in my life. I won't go into great detail, but suffice it to say that I don't EVER want to go through anything like this again! The sad news is that mom will have to move out of her private room into a shared room. The good news is they have a room in the same hall she's in. She will have the same friends and the same nursing staff. I went over at lunch this afternoon to tell her, and she actually took it very well. She's known it was coming, so wasn't overly surprised, but she is sad that she is losing her "own space". They will be moving her on Friday, and I managed to get Cox Cable to come out the same day to move her cable; so we're set. I will go over Friday morning to be there for the move. For family members and friends out there - please say a prayer for mom. She is struggling a lot with confusion right now, and it's made her very anxiety ridden. It's hard to deal with all this stuff. My siblings have offered to help, but because I am her power of attorney, I've had to deal with most of the legwork. Mom - we love you - and we pledge do the best we can to make this move as painless as possible!

I hope she adjusts well to the shared room. The money sure goes fast doesn't it?

Give her a big hug for me and tell her I'm thinking of her!

Prayers for your mom and also for you. It is not easy what you are doing - you are not just a great mom but an excellent daughter. You should be very proud of yourself Linda!

Jennifer, thanks SO much for the kind words! My mom did so much for us growing up because my dad wasn't around much. I don't regret for one second the things I've had to take care of knowing it was for HER! It just doesn't mean I don't complain about the hassles! HA!

First Day of School

It's tradition at my house to take a "first day of school" picture. The kids get less and less thrilled every year, but I still do it. Here are the twins before they left for their first day of senior year: Kind of funny that they both wore gray - unplanned of course! I think Kaitlin is putting in her plug for the college she'd like to go to. They had a good day. Found out that at 1800 students, Heights is over their limit by 400 students!!! OMG! I'm not sure what the answer is, but it is WAY TOO CROWDED! I think the northeast side of town needs a new high school. Something needs to be done! Just finished my Nora Roberts book, and have started New Moon, the second book in Stephenie Meyer's vampire series. Kaitlin took Abby to the vet yesterday to get her last distemper shot and a rabies shot. The vet told her that she comes from a line of very strong / physically superior cats. I knew there was some reason that she climbs EVERYWHERE in the house, including u...
