Graduation Party

We had a wonderful day! Did some grocery & graduation party shopping this morning. Then Corby & Brandon headed to Sam's to pick up the cake, and Party City to pick up the balloons. Kaleb, Kaitlin and I went over to the Community Building and got everything set up for their party.

With Uncle Mike & Aunt Diana...With Melody & Diane...Dining at Abuelo's for their celebration dinner...What will I remember about this day?

* Corby & Brandon helping out by picking up the cake at Sam's & the balloons at Party City
* Kaleb & Kaitlin helping me set up for their graduation party, and the laughs we had
* Reminiscing with Kaleb & Kaitlin's kindergarten teacher, Vicki Tanner. She is in our Sunday School class at church, and is a very special lady.
* Reminiscing with Kaleb & Kaitlin's 8th grade science teacher, Lorrie Donham. She is also in our Sunday school class and is a special person.
* Looking at pictures of the twins from the day they were born up to the beautiful young adults they've grown up to be
* My best friend Melody and her daughter Diane sharing their memories. Diane grew up with our kids, and she and Melody are part of our family!
* My sister Rhonda and her part in the kids lives through the years - especially when they were little. She will always be considered Aunt Ra-Ra!
* My brother Mike reminding Brandon of the day the twins were born - because he and mom had to chase Brandon up and down the halls at St. Francis Hospital
* My sister Marilyn who brought her granddaughter Aspen. They were a bright spot in our day!
* My brother Terry & his wife Sandy - who came despite the fact that they are still without power from the storm early yesterday morning...
* Last, but not least, my mom was so sweet. She gave the twins big hugs and kisses and special wishes!

I will cherish my memories from this wonderful day! Soon (May 19th) will be graduation day, and that will make the next step in their lives seem more real!

Congratulations Kaleb & Kaitlin. Dad and I are SO proud of the young adults you have become. You are bright, talented, funny and caring people, and WE LOVE YOU!

This was such a special day for all of the family. Brought tears to my eyes to see the kids so grown up. Yes i will always be considered Aunt RARA. Congratulations Kaleb and Kaitlin

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. K-STATE WINS!

K-STATE beat KU! AWESOME! It was a tense game. Corby is a huge KU fan, and even having a son at K-State hasn't changed that. I am happy when any Kansas team does well; but I had to root for K-State tonight. If the Jayhawks had to lose, I'm glad it was to K-State. Michael Beasley is a great player, and my only concern is that he will leave after his freshman year and go pro. WAY TO GO CATS!
