Manhattan Weekend Trip

Corby and I had a fairly normal week. We went out to eat at Abuelo's on Wednesday night. We've been trying to eat out (or eat take-out) once a week - that's our limit. We ate at Abuelo's because we had a gift certificate for a free entree when purchasing one. So I was a cheap date Wednesday night! Next week we are going to TGIFriday's with my best friend Melody. Again, we have a coupon for buy one entree, get one free. Corby will be the cheap date this time!We spent the weekend in Manhattan with the kids. Since the twins both started at Dillons this afternoon (orientation to start), we decided we better head up for a visit before their lives get so busy with school and work that they wouldn't have time for mom and dad. Brandon had to work Saturday 10-7, but we stopped at Dillons on our way in town to give him a hug and visit for a couple of minutes. We spent the afternoon with Kaleb and Kaitlin. Our first order of business was to find some black work pants for both of them. They will be getting Dillons polo shirts, but otherwise have to wear black slacks (no jeans). I had already gotten Kaleb one pair at the DAV here in town, but didn't have any luck finding some for Kaitlin. So we started at the Salvation Army in Manhattan. Tiny, tiny, tiny...and no luck! So we went to JCPenney's at the mall. Thank goodness they were having a good sale. We found 3 pairs of slacks for Kaitlin, and got Kaleb one pair. Along with the pair I got him at the DAV - he had one other pair of black slacks. We enjoyed wandering the mall, and of course, Kaitlin and I had to stock up on the antibacterial hand soap at Bath & Body Works. They were having a great sale...From the mall we went out to Tuttle Creek State Park. Here are some picks from the day:

It was a great weekend! It may be October before I see the kids again. It depends on their work schedules. Kaitlin and I have tickets to see Daughtry in Topeka mid-October, so I'll be spending the night with them in Manhattan...LOVE YOU GUYS! MISS YOU!

Today's music on our drive home was varied: Sugarland, Keith Urban, and finally Billy Ray Cyrus' new CD, which was really good. I bought it at the Eagle's book sale about a month (or more?) ago, but it got stuck in the pocket on the back of my seat in the car, so had forgotten all about it.

I almost got to see Daughtry when he came to Frankfurt, but it was sold out :(

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15.
