This week we...

These are figures that the kids made us over the years...

This is a baby picture of my dad
An antique clown cookie jar that was moms...
I enjoy my Sunday mornings - reading the paper, checking out the sales flyers, clipping coupons and working the crossword puzzle...
For some reason, I cannot move the pictures after uploading them, so they are all at the top in this post...sorry...

We had a good week. I enjoyed a couple days of vacation. We ate dinner at Logan's Steakhouse on Wednesday night. Yes, I had a coupon. We saved $5 off our meals. There was no wait, the service was good, and the food was good!

It was back to work for me on Thursday. I had a really busy Friday because my assistant was sick. It's always really busy when you have to lay out three papers as well as paginate three classified sections by yourself. We finished the week off by having my best friend Melody over Friday evening. We spent quite a while catching up on our visiting, while drinking some margaritas and eating chips, salsa, guacamole (not me, I hate it!), cheese, summer sausage, etc. We started a game of UNO, but in the middle of the second hand, we got a phone call from Kaitlin. Melody and I both chatted with her for a while, so by the time we hung up, we were ready to watch a Barry Manilow concert DVD. We actually ended up watching TWO concert DVD's, and Melody didn't leave until after 2:30am. That's the latest I've stayed up in a LONG time! We had a wonderful time!

Yesterday we were busy with our usual errand-running. Mom was moved into a different room at Presbyterian Manor this week. She had requested a change and they moved her on Friday afternoon. It's very similar to her old room, but she has a new roommate who enjoys her privacy as much as mom does. It will take her a little while to adjust, as she has all new nurses and help staff since she's in a different wing. Corby and I got her pictures re-hung for her while we were there yesterday. We also went to Target, Lowe's, Home Depot and Dillons. We were looking for a patio screen door, and we finally found one at Home Depot. Of course, after we got it home, Corby realized he'd gotten the wrong size.

Today has been busy with yard work and laundry. The Chiefs gave it a good effort at Baltimore, but Baltimore won after scoring the go-ahead touchdown with 2 minutes left in the game. The Chiefs did better than I thought they would!

Tonight it's slow-cooked pork short ribs for dinner. Yummmmmm....

Have a great week!

Hope Grandma adjusts well. Tell her I'm thinking about her!

VACATION

On vacation for a few days (return to work on Thursday)...here's where I wish I was... I plan on enjoying some peace and quiet...and possibly, if I get motivated, getting some cleaning and organizing done in the office area of the basement. We'll see if that motivation arrives (it's not here yet)... Good news for Park City residents...recycling came to town the first of January. We are charged $4.00 month (added onto our already high water bill); but it has lowered the price of our trash pickup. The company P.C. contracted with has a much lower price than the company we use. Our company matched the price, so our trash bills went down (considerably) AND we get to recycle. We can recycle almost all our plastics, newspapers, cardboard, aluminum cans, cereal boxes, glass, motor oil, etc. We've got two big bags to set out tomorrow. Just doin' our part for the environment. We are without hot water right now...our hot water heater needs a new thermo-couple? It's a fair

Fun times with Lenore

While Lenore and Daniel were here, she had a library book panel at the Johnson County Library in Overland Park. So, on Tuesday afternoon, November 27th, Lenore, her friend Rachelle and I took off for KC. We had a great time visiting on the way up and back, and I didn't get tired at all driving! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at Arby's and filled up with gas at QT before heading to the library. It was an interesting panel featuring Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park, which comes out next year; Gennifer Albin, author of Crewel, which was released a few months ago; and Lenore, whose book will be released on January 15. Here's the panel: Me & Lenore: Lenore & Rachelle: Gennifer, Bethany and Lenore
